Department Description

General Counsel:

General Counsel (GC) is a trusted advisor to all parts of FIL, providing high-value independent advisory and assurance expertise through our specialist teams. GC comprises of Legal, Risk, Compliance, Tax, Public Policy & Strategic Relationship Management.

GC Shared Services:

The General Counsel Shared Services function is a global centre of expertise currently being built out in Dalian and India. It will provide operational support and services to the General Counsel function.

Purpose of your role

The purpose of this role is to provide strategic and tactical support to General Counsel leaders in terms of planning, supervision, coordination and reporting of specific projects/initiatives and teams and carry out associated administrative duties. The role will require you to explore best practices in designing and implementing operational procedures to assist General Counsel leaders in managing ongoing projects. The role involves assisting on monitoring project plans, preparing necessary presentation materials for meetings, managing stakeholder communication, documenting and following up on important actions, and ensuring project deadlines are met in a timely manner.


Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with General Counsel senior leadership team to deliver insightful and precise content in a report template.
  • Regularly research on developments, best practices in General Counsel domain, draft white paper or thought leadership in coordination with GC colleagues
  • Identify areas of improvement and process efficiencies through automation, digitalization, etc.
  • Share periodic reports on GC initiatives and outstanding action items
  • Create standardized templates on MS Enterprise platforms of PowerPoint and Excel aligned with brand identity of Fidelity
  • Reporting on initiatives and opportunities with structured business case when required by the SLT

Experience and Educational Qualifications

  • At least 8 years overall experience preferably in Financial Service or Management Consulting industry with exposure to change / transformation programs
  • Graduation (must), preferably in Engineering, Commerce or Economics
  • MBA or equivalent qualification (preferred)

Essential Skills

  • Highly accomplished communicator, particularly strong English language writing skills and experience of writing commentary for senior stakeholder consumption
  • Strong creative skills in developing content and package the same in a visually appealing manner
  • Pro-active self-starter, able to multi-task and prioritize under pressure
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Power Point including ability to develop clear, concise & compelling story lines for senior management
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Excel (strong knowledge of pivot tables, power pivot, data sorting, filters, etc).
  • Proficient in use of other Microsoft apps such as Word, Visio, Power Apps and Teams.
  • Business and commercial acumen in conjunction with ability to navigate the internal organisation to facilitate action and/or information on initiatives
  • High level of attention to detail yet also able to see the big picture.
  • Experience of the asset management industry would be an advantage.
  • Collaborative operating style with a focus on working together with others to achieve great outcomes for the business as well as recognition for all those contributing to the team’s success.
  • Ability to analyse local and/or global market and industry trends to identify emerging business needs and opportunities
  • Intellectual capacity and ability to translate complex issues and requirements for various stakeholder groups
  • Initiative, commitment and a strong work ethic. Show confidence in addressing challenges and overcoming obstacles
  • Work within a high paced environment to continually prioritise and ensure delivery of outputs on time and to high quality

Desirable Skills

  • Graphic designing / advanced PowerPoint development experience would be an added advantage
  • Experience based domain knowledge of General Counsel functions (Risk/ Compliance) would be an advantage
  • Ability to use good judgement in the use of confidential information
  • Knowledge of BI and Visualization tools will be an advantage
