ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE POST OF RESEARCH ASSOCIATE AND JUNIOR

RESEARCH FELLOW UNDER “DST’s CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE ON WATER

RESOURCES, CRYOSPHERE AND CLIMATE CHANGE STUDIES”

An online walk-in interview will be held as per the given date & time in the schedule mentioned

below for the filling up the different research positions of Research Associate (01) and Junior

Research Fellow (05) in the research project titled “DST’s CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE ON

WATER RESOURCES, CRYOSPHERE AND CLIMATE CHANGE STUDIES” in the

Department of Geology, Sikkim University. The appointment will be made initially for 3 months

and can be extendable till the completion of the project subjected to the satisfactory performances.

The positions are purely temporary and will co-terminus with the project. The details of the

positions are mentioned below:

A. Position:Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Number of Vacancy:05 (five)

Essential qualifications: Post Graduate Degree in Environmental

Sciences/Glaciology/Geology/ Geophysics/Remote Sensing and GIS/Geo-

informatics/Sciences/any other relevant disciplines with NET/GATE or any national level

examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and

Institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc.,

IISER, etc.

Desirable qualification: Experience in Geophysical studies, climate change studies, glacial

studies, mathematical modelling, Chemical analysis, Remote Sensing and GIS software’s

and data interpretation.

Other Information:The selected candidate would be allowed to enroll in the PhD course

at Sikkim University under the conditions (i) he/she is eligible as per the norms of Sikkim

University (ii) and, position is available. The candidates need to inform at least three months

in advance in case of leaving the project.

Remuneration:Rs.31,000.00 + 8% HRA per month for first two years and Rs.35,000.00 +

8% HRA for third year onwards subject to performance

B. Position:Research Associate (RA)

Number of Vacancy:01 (One)

Essential qualifications:Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Environmental

Sciences/Glaciology/Geology/ Geophysics/ Climate Change Studies/Water

Resources/Atmospheric Sciences/Remote Sensing and GIS/Geo-informatics/Sciences/any

other relevant discipline or having three years of research, teaching, and design and

development experience after ME/M.Tech. with at least one research paper in Science

Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.

Desirable qualification: Expert in climate change modelling studies, Glacial studies,

mathematical modelling, Chemical analysis, Remote Sensing and GIS software’s and data

interpretation. Excellent report writing skills etc.

Other Information:The candidates need to inform at least three months in advance in case

of leaving the project.

Remuneration:Rs.47,000.00 + 8% HRA per month for first two years and Rs.49,000.00 +

8% HRA for third year onwards subject to performance
