Senior Engineer Data visualization - Power BI

Job Summary:

Looking for an enthusiastic and creative Power BI Designer to join the team. The role will focus on designing and optimizing front end BI dashboards. The designer should be able to liaise with the clients/internal customers to understand requirements (user stories). Other technical developers in the team will focus on the data modelling and the designer will purely focus on the user experience element.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Deliver required project inputs according to time, quality and budget requirements
• Ensure progress is accurately communicated and expectations of various stakeholders are managed effectively
• Work with stakeholders on requirements gathering
• Create user stories of requirements
• Design and create prototypes before building the reports/dashboards
• Produce and enhance reports & dashboards using best practices
• Design the aesthetics to be implemented within a product, from the layout menus and drop-down options to colours and fonts allowing for interface edits as needed
• Identify and troubleshoot user experience problems (e.g. responsiveness)
• Analyze performance issues and work with the technical team on fixing it
• Building of predictive models in Power BI (Forecast, Trend etc.)
• Work on cross-platform applications to develop user experiences covering mobile phones, tablets and computers
• Build page navigation buttons, Q&A questions and search fields
• Test for intuitively and experience
• Conduct an ongoing user research
• Ensure design standards, guidelines and best practices are adhered to
• Power BI capability- be the go-to person, train colleagues
• Delivering Power BI User Training to customers
• Efficiently handle large sets of data and be able to confidently process them into required formats
• Actively participate in our culture of continuous development and innovation by contributing ideas for new features and functionality
• Contribute to Cubic’s thought leadership
• Participate and support business development activities

Minimum Job Requirements:

• College degree or equivalent in technical space.
• Relevant work experience (4+ years professional design experience)
• Portfolio or sample of work
• Prior experience designing user interactions, user flows, wireframes, hi-fidelity mockups, prototypes and detailed design specifications
• Strong data visualization experience in Power BI (developing dashboards and reports)
• Understanding of Power BI interaction design principles
• A user-centric mindset and attention to detail
• Advanced map related visualizations experience
• Experience in DAX and Power Query M Language skills
• Understanding BI/DWH concepts and data modelling
• Experience in collecting customer requirements
• Experience in Scrum methodology
• A self-starter with confidence to work independently or with a team
• Strong communication skills with good presentation skills
• Experience in building dashboards in Power BI Premium
• Good time-management skills
• Team spirit; strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders

• SQL querying skills
• DevOps experience
• Experience in Python or R
• Experience in custom visualizations
• Knowledge of GDPR
• Background in transportation, environment and equity analytics
• Knowledge of operations (Queues, efficiency, resource utilization)
