1. Liaise on a daily basis with clients and the media, often via telephone and email

2. Build strong relationships and networks with colleagues, clients and the media + marketing

3. Monitor the media, new age media and newspapers, magazines, journals, broadcasts, newswires, social media sites and blogs, for opportunities for clients

4. Prepare regular client reports and attend client meetings

5. Research, write and distribute press releases to targeted media

6. Promote news stories and features to the media, known as ’selling in’

7. Collate, analyze and evaluate media coverage

8. Manage events, including press conferences and promotional events

9. Attend and promote client events to the media

10. Assist with the production of client publications, such as in-house magazines

11. Commission market research

12. Coordinate studio or location photography

13. Undertake research for new business proposals and present them to potential new clients

14. Manage the PR aspect of a possible crisis situation.

15. Motivating the team and keeping spirits high to encourage a friendly & open environment

16. Planning publicity strategies and campaigns

17. Writing and producing presentations and press releases

18. Dealing with enquiries from the public, the press, and related organisations

19. Organising promotional events such as press conferences, open days, exhibitions, tours and visits

20. Speaking publicly at interviews, press conferences and presentations

21. Providing clients with information about new promotional opportunities and current PR campaigns progress

22. Analysing media coverage

23. Commissioning or undertaking relevant market research

24. Liaising with clients, managerial and journalistic staff about budgets, timescales and objectives

25. Designing, writing and/or producing presentations, press releases, articles, leaflets, ‘inhouse’ journals, reports, publicity brochures, information for web sites and promotional videos.

26. Crisis management & troubleshooting

27. Develop media relations strategy, seeking high-level placements in print, broadcast and online media

28. Leverage existing media relationships and cultivate new contacts within business and industry media

29. Evaluate opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships and advertising on an on-going basis.

30. Build relationships with thought leaders to grow industry awareness

31. Maintain a keen understanding of industry trends affecting clients and make appropriate recommendations regarding communication strategy surrounding them
