What You’ll Do:

The Software Engineer (Notifiers) on the Airbrake engineering team is responsible for the design, architecture, implementation, and quality control of Airbrake Notifiers. An Airbrake notifier is a library, or SDK, added to a software project that sends runtime errors to a centralized service. This engineer will investigate and resolve bugs, implement new features, and respond to public GitHub issues for an Airbrake Notifier. A successful Software Engineer for an Airbrake notifier will be an effective written communicator and collaborator. They will produce all required functionality in a timely manner and improve the software they work with.


Here’s a closer look at this key role:

  • Participate in an agile, iterative development process to execute priorities and plans.
  • Design, document, code, and test technical solutions and improvements for Airbrake notifiers.
  • Translate business requirements into effective software design and functionality.
  • Ensure feature parity within Airbrake notifiers, beginning with Airbrake Application Performance Monitoring (APM).
  • Demonstrate how to effectively use the Airbrake notifiers by publishing best practices and ideas.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues for escalated support cases.
  • Collaborate primarily with the Airbrake development team, which is distributed throughout multiple cities in the US and Europe.

  • What You’ll Need:

3+ years of full-time experience in, and solid understanding of below languages and technologies:

  • Java / Groovy
  • Python
  • Strong understanding of common design principles and security practices for one or more of the programming languages listed above.
  • Experience releasing public packages for your platform of expertise, e.g. Ruby Gems, NuGet, etc.
  • Proficient written communication and documentation skills.
  • Familiarity with test frameworks for your languages of expertise.
