About Cloud & Network Services

Cloud and Network Services is a leading Nokia business group that offers Network solutions on Core, Business and Enterprise segments, as well as Cloud solutions and Cognitive Services. It is a newly formed business group, that includes most of the former Nokia Software business, Nokia’s enterprise solutions, core network solutions including both voice and packet core, and managed and advanced services from its former Global Services unit. This unit will also act as a delivery channel of certain products from other business groups to enterprise customers. Cloud and Network Services (CNS) will target growth by leveraging the industry transition to cloud-based delivery, network-as-a-service business models, and software-led value creation.


Job Description

Engage closely with a customer to design & develop solutions to fulfill customer’s needs by understanding the customer’s challenges and architectures, and turning that into a customer solution.

The scope of an assignment will dictate the technical and business skills demanded of an architect and may include an understanding, if not detailed knowledge, of a wide range of network and IT technologies, and products, both Nokia and 3rd party.

An architect designs and improves a customer and/or Nokia solution IT/Telco architecture. The design solves a problem faced by, or fulfils of an opportunity identified by 1 or more customers of Nokia. An architect captures, analyzes, manages and influences the functional and non-functional requirements by using industry best practices and create/contribute to customer requirement summaries for solution development use.


Job Responsibilities & Competencies



  • Lead architect, develops customer solution architecture in dedicated area of competence (decompose the requirements into the functional blocks, solution components, external and internal interfaces, responsibilities of the components, network protocols as input for overall technical solution)
  • Keeps the knowledge of the dedicated customer architecture in dedicated technical area and regional requirements
  • Influences technical mindset of the customer and RFx content via architecture workshops in the Customer Engagement phase
  • Acts as key bridge between sales and delivery phase to identify and manage risks and assure customer satisfaction.
  • Identifies the BU’s involved and coordinates the x-BU activities for initial phase of the solution development.
  • Develops the technical part of Solution Portfolio and work closely with product lines and partners.
  • Creates solution architectures (defines solution components, external and internal interfaces, responsibilities of the components, network protocols to be used, component flow charts, hardware and physical views) for solutions and provide technical leadership for other Solution Architects in one or two technical areas.
  • Captures and manage the functional and non-functional requirements by using industry best practices, and also create interface specifications.
  • Together with Project Manager, provides accurate effort estimates, where he/she is supported by other Solution Engineering functions and reviews effort estimates
  • Defines and manages in the delivery phase the detailed architectural requirements and creates and maintains the overall solution architecture for large scale projects or projects with high complexity.
  • Works with senior technology leads (architects) and solutions consultants to propose solutions based on specific customer requirements. Their tasks include scoping of customer unique solutions containing products and services from Nokia, third party partners as well as customer specific technologies.

Key Competency

  • Expert level knowledge in LTE/5G core networks
  • Expert level knowledge in enterprise core solutions - CMU, EVC-TAS, SBC, CSCF, MRF, GC and NSP
  • Good knowledge of Switches, Routers and Load Balancer
  • Unix systems/scripting / Directory Protocols / Network protocols
  • Very Strong TCP/IP knowledge. Strong understanding of Network Security and experience required, with strong transferable skills in other networking disciplines.
  • The ideal candidate will be able to analyze sniffer traces and be able to resolve various issues.
  • Ability to learn and integrate new technologies in a fast-paced environment
  • Requirements gathering & Pre sales experience
  • Should have worked in doing dimensioning, Capacity, Hardware sizing
  • Should have a good understanding in scoping and estimation
