Store Design Lead

Location - Bangalore

Primary purpose of role:

The Design Lead for Emerging International will be responsible for the quality, creativity and delivery of Costa’s store design proposition in the market / country (India being the primary market). Interpreting and adapting the standards to be market relevant, while be the guardian of those standards.
  • In-market expertise in design who also drives the construction of the retail stores together with the franchise partner (FP).

Key Accountabilities:

DESIGN GOVERNANCE
  • Lead and steer the development of the store design process and eventually, manage the design approval process.
  • Provide guidance for a design-centred and consumer-centric design within a set of guiderails and budget, community relevance and site characteristics.
SCOPE:
  • Ability to define and execute all phases of design, permits and construction administration; site requirements, design, layout, workflow, contractor / supplier meetings, site surveys, legal submissions and approvals, to name a few.
  • Work in a cross functional team involving real estate, construction, facilities, store operations, and IT.
  • Ensure local suppliers comply with the agreed standards.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT (PM)
  • Implement PM principles to ensure the timely delivery of the project; applying relevant methods and skills to communicate to stakeholders on a timely basis, working within specified limits.
  • Ability to define key deliverables and make adjustments to the critical path to mitigate potential challenges (risk management).
STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT
  • Establish and nurture a good working relationship with the FP and the various stakeholders to ensure the seamless delivery of the project.
  • Develop a process to review project status with the FP, pre- and post-open, and work towards agreed action steps towards achievement of targets.

Required knowledge, skills or experience

Keeps in touch with new trends in retail designs, and keeps updated with the changes in the building and construction
industry
  • Review schematic design packages, shop drawings and necessary documentation for submission
  • Comprehensive knowledge of M&E and building code requirements, or have access to local legislatures to acquire the
necessary information
  • Familiar with sustainable designs and construction methods
  • Able to work on store designs that balances form, function, budget and consumer experience
  • Budget planning
  • Lead a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to put together a presentation or brief to communicate one’s idea
