Job Title: Storytelling and Communications Coordinator

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive storytelling and communications strategy to effectively convey the organization’s mission, impact, and fundraising goals.
  • Identify and collect compelling stories, impact narratives, and case studies that highlight the organization’s work and engage potential donors and supporters.
  • Collaborate with program teams, beneficiaries, and volunteers to gather stories, testimonials, and firsthand accounts that showcase the organization’s impact.
  • Write, edit, and proofread engaging and persuasive content for various channels, including website copy, blog posts, social media updates, email newsletters, fundraising appeals, and donor communications.
  • Create and curate visual content, such as photographs and videos, to accompany storytelling efforts and enhance audience engagement.
  • Manage the organization’s social media presence, including content creation, scheduling, monitoring, and engagement with followers and supporters.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, bloggers, and influencers to generate positive media coverage and increase the organization’s visibility.
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of storytelling and communications initiatives, using metrics and analytics to measure effectiveness and make data-driven improvements.
  • Collaborate with the fundraising team to align storytelling efforts with fundraising campaigns and initiatives, ensuring consistent messaging and compelling donor appeals.
  • Support the planning and execution of events and campaigns by providing creative input, content development, and communications support.
  • Assist in the development of marketing and promotional materials, ensuring alignment with the organization’s branding and messaging guidelines.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging platforms, and best practices in storytelling, content creation, and digital communications.
  • Collaborate with the design team to create visually appealing and engaging materials, including infographics, posters, and digital assets.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, such as photographers, videographers, and graphic designers, to ensure high-quality visual content production.
  • Maintain a content calendar and editorial schedule to ensure consistent and timely delivery of storytelling and communications materials.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field. Additional certifications or training in storytelling, content creation, or digital marketing are a plus.
  • 3-5 years of experience in storytelling, content creation, or communications roles, preferably in the non-profit or crowdfunding sector.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong command of the English language.
  • Exceptional storytelling abilities and a knack for capturing compelling narratives.
  • Proficiency in content creation and editing tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similarsoftware.
  • Experience managing social media platforms and a solid understanding of social media bestpractices.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing strategies, including email marketing, SEO, and analytics.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver error-free content.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills to develop innovative and impactful storytellingapproaches.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple projectssimultaneously.
  • Basic graphic design skills and an eye for visual aesthetics.
  • Familiarity with website content management systems (CMS) and basic HTML.
  • Knowledge of media relations and experience working with journalists and media outlets.
  • Proficiency in using analytics tools to track and measure the performance of communicationsefforts.
  • Passion for the mission and values of the non-profit crowdfunding organization.
