What will you do at Ciena?

CIENA’s Packet Optical products portfolio comprises of a broad family of products for Aggregation, Metro and Core Optical networks. Successful candidate for the role of SVT/PV Engineer will be responsible for developing feature and solution test strategies, test plans, and test execution for Ciena’s Packet Optical products based on technologies such as DWDM, SONET/SDH/OTN and L0 Control Plane.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans for Ciena’s Converged Packet Optical platform with a focus on some or all of the following areas: DWDM, SONET/SDH/OTN, L0 Control Plane.
• Consult with hardware and software development teams and review high level design documents and product requirements in order to generate system level and feature level test plans.
• Prepare Test Lab setup for test execution based on test plans.
• Hands-on experience in at least one of the automation languages like TCL, Python etc. along with ability to automate the Test scenarios on need basis
• Work with Development teams for investigation and resolution of the issues found during the testing.
• Analyze test results and prepare test reports.
• Schedule and conduct team meetings to discuss testing needs in relation to requirements and design issues/implementations

• Ability to develop test plans/procedures from functional specifications and system requirements and subsequent test script code for automated functional, stress, acceptance, and regression testing of optical transport systems
• Ability to adequately document test progress and results.
• Proficient with a wide range of DWDM/SONET/SDH/OTN test equipment

Experience

• Bachelors or Masters in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or Optical Communications or relevant work experience.
• 6+ years of experience in production and systems test
• Automation experience with Tcl/Python is desirable
