Job Description:
  • 3+ years of experience in implementation and troubleshooting of Commvault Backup and HPE Simplivity infrastructure
  • Experience in providing Level 2 support on any of the vendor Backup systems (Commvault)
  • Experience in Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Management including Disaster Recovery Drills towards process optimization and assurance
  • Experience of implementation Data Management, Archiving and RBAC policies is an advantage
  • Experience with backup virtualization and quota management, LUN provisioning and mapping to UNIX, Windows and Linux servers (Physical/ Virtual) is desired
  • Must have experience and/or knowledge in capacity planning & forecasting and performance monitoring of backup subsystems
  • Must have knowledge and/or experience of operational monitoring and management tools (e.g. Solarwinds, Zabbix, Grafana/Graphite, Nagios, etc.).
  • Intermediate knowledge of Windows and Linux/Unix operating systems
  • Experience of firmware upgrade, configuration management & troubleshooting mirrors, vaults, and performance optimization is an advantage
  • Must have experience of backup solutions including backup software and hardware infrastructure configuration and management
  • Experience in developing and implementing Backup processes and data management policies
  • Experience on HCI and cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.) based Backup solution like Nutanix, NetApp CVO, Azure ASR, Veritas CloudCatalyst / Cloudpoint is an advantage
  • Help setup of backup technologies - Commvault, Veeam. Be able to take care of most of P1/P2/P3/P4 tasks and document the RCCA.
  • Interacting with client over calls and provide details with reasoning of the deliverables.
  • 3 years relevant experience in as Backup Engineer
  • Certification: NetApp NCTA / NCSIE, MCSA/MCP/ RHCE and ITIL is a add on advantage
  • Should be open to relocation and working in shifts



Basic job requirement:

  • This position requires a good hands-on experience of Commvault backup and HPE Simplivity tool and other related technologies e.g. SAN, NAS, Tape Backup etc.
  • Handling all kind of Incidents, creating and presenting change request related to Backup.
  • Work closely with other teams to resolve the backup issues related to their technologies. Should have worked in ITIL environment.
  • Manage backup infrastructure on Windows and Linux platforms
  • Should possess good knowledge on performance management for Backup/Restore.
  • Possess good understanding on deduplication, synthetic backup and data sizing etc.
  • Act as Liaison between client and service or hardware provider.
  • Setup and configure Commvault server/client and tape libraries
  • Monitor daily Commvault activity and reporting to pro-actively avoid issues
  • Modify and optimize backup schedules
  • Improve automation and productivity of backups through scripting enhancements
  • Troubleshoot and resolve missed and failed Commvault backups
  • Interface with vendors for escalation of issues
  • Update Commvault policies and procedures
  • Good skills on performance optimization.
  • Solving complicated Hardware cases and Liaising with Hardware Vendor/Symantec support
  • Advanced trouble shooting skills and identify the severity of the issue, Ability to Resolving issues quickly to account/customer satisfaction and Prepare RCA
  • For Backup Infrastructure changes, submitted and undergone Change Management process through TRB (Technical Review Board) & CAB (Change Advisor Board). As part of problem management, documented the frequently encountered issues in the environment and remediated them.
