The Role

Job Description

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or IT (or equivalent) or business administration or applicable work experience.
  • Candidate must have 12+ years of solid SAP Development, technical solution architecture design experience.
  • Candidate must have strong software programming/coding abilities and hands on proficiency in SAP ABAP programming, SAP Workflow, Interface programming, ODATA, and Enhancement development. JavaScript programming will be an added advantage.
  • Act as a quality gate – review peer’s coding/developments ensuring adherence to development guidelines, Performance, code quality standards, review existing customizations and functional specification for technical feasibility.
  • Proficient in mentoring resources (staff and contractor), support them in technical challenges in terms of identifying the right technology or architecting the design.
  • Possess innovative mindset to propose effective technical designs/solutions to business problems.
  • Candidate must possess a strong combination of technical and analytical skills and will architect, design and develop robust SAP solutions in close collaboration with business analysts and business stakeholders.
  • Candidate should have a strong technical ability in SAP along with stakeholder management skills, great communication skills, and motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Provides technical advisory and support on matters related to the SAP ABAP programming of SAP modules and third-party interfaces.
  • proactively check the health of the system landscape, highlight performance issues, unhealthy practices, and any breach to the established quality standards proactively. Should act as quality gate of the work products developed in our landscape.
  • Designs, develops, codes, specifications, and test programs for SAP modules and functions using ABAP programming language.
  • Proficient in ABAP programming, testing and debugging work related to the implementation, enhancement and support of various SAP functional areas.
  • Works with SAP business analysts to formalize specifications for custom development.
  • Identify feasible solutions within SAP framework and estimate effort needed to meet those technical requirements and gaps.
  • Review functional specifications to ensure completeness in preparation for development of custom objects.
  • Manages multiple assignments while concurrently fulfilling on-going application support and maintenance responsibilities.
  • Works with internal and external technical resources to implement continuous improvements.
  • Collaborates with other analysts to ensure system and procedural changes have minimum or no impact on other application areas and workstreams.
  • Documents system changes and results per systems development life cycle requirements and audit guidelines.
  • Creates specialized reports for SAP modules using ABAP programming language.
  • Advises other IT staff on internal development procedures and standards and ABAP development best practices.
  • Assist business analysts in the development and maintenance of training materials and reference guides
  • Support technical requirement gathering, develop prototypes/PoCs/recommend solutions with limited information from the business, delivery quality Technical specifications and documentation.
  • Run a quality assessment of peers’ code

IT Knowledge

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or IT (or equivalent) or business administration or applicable work experience.
  • Candidate must have 12+ years in SAP technical architecture designing and development experience.
  • 5+ full life cycle implementations/roll outs (bare minimum: no exceptions)
  • 3+ years of experience developing SAP RFCs and working with BAPIs for external interfaces, developing Web Services within SAP and consuming external Web Services to SAP.
  • 7+ years of solid experience in building interfaces, enhancements, reports in SAP and at least 2+ years of working with SAP Workflow development.
  • Strong experience working with Enhancement framework, user exits, ALE, IDOC, OO/ALV, BAPI, Reports,OData and BADI Implementations and Stack upgrade.
  • Experience in developing and modifying SAP forms including SAP Script, Smart Forms, Layout sets and Adobe forms.
  • Strong working knowledge of at least 4 of the following modules: MM, SD, WM, EWM, LE, CRM, PM, FI/CO, PP, PS, QM, SCM.
  • Demonstrated experience as a developer with a high level of knowledge and experience across SAP developments in major SAP ERP implementation projects, including Process Integration and interfaces.
  • Demonstrated experience in converting functional specifications into a robust technical design using several SAP programming tools for example ABAP, ABAP reporting using OO/ALV, and print form development (Smart forms, SAP script and Adobe interactive forms).
  • Demonstrated development experience in SAP Sales & Distribution, Material Management, FI/CO, PM.
  • Strong self-propelled leadership skills and results oriented.

Desired (Good to have) IT Skills and Characteristics

  • Experience with SCRUM or other Agile/Lean development methodologies
  • Hands on experience with ABAP on HANA, UI5, FIORI, SAP Cloud Platform, CPI, Extensibility.
  • Experience with HCI
  • Excellent writing proficiency, visual design, and presentation skills and a willingness to work in team environments.
  • Understanding of standard business processes and data flow within a functional area.
  • Uses best practices and knowledge of internal and external business issues to improve products and services.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to think and work independently.

Preferences

  • Experience of working in virtual teams
  • SAP Certification is a plus
  • Experience of working in Agile projects
  • Knowledge of at least one test case management tool like HP ALM/Work soft is preferred.
  • Awareness or understanding of digital technologies, e.g., IoT, Data Analytics, RPA.
  • Experience around business process modelling
