Risk and Control Objective

o Provide effective valuation control and oversight for FI Credit and Treasury (referred as the assigned asset class in the rest of the document) businesses to ensure compliance with valuation control policies and standards
o Supervise the activities of the assigned asset class IPV teams to ensure quality and timeliness of Core deliverables.
o Proactively communicate insights, observations and escalations regarding the valuation control environment of the assigned asset class businesses to regional business, finance management and other stakeholders. Provide management information and reporting for regional valuation control.
o Establish a strong collaborative relationship with regional IPV & line control teams and provide finance partner role to the Trading desks and BMs, including providing independent valuation support.
o Regular interaction with Financial Control, Technical Accounting Group, PC Change Management, Technology and other infrastructure areas.
o Contribute to and implement global and regional change initiatives to improve process efficiency and the control environment for valuation function.

What will you be doing?

Responsible for IPV production process and managing the team to full fill monthly responsibilities of IPV, FVA, PVA and ensure control and governance framework.
o Be subject matter expert on the assigned asset class Price Testing (PT), Fair Value Adjustment (FVA), Prudent Valuation Adjustments (PVA) methodologies, and proactively work to improve existing processes and methodologies.
o Provide independent valuations challenge, analysis, reporting and adhoc investigations, covering the full spectrum of products in Equities business lines.
o Proactively communicate and escalate valuation or Business related observations and concerns.
o Address questions or requests from internal & external Audit and Risk & Controls team as required.
o Proactively collaborate and communicate with the Global PC-Valuations teams, other control functions such as Risk and PC-Line.
o Maintenance of the general Control governance, completeness, IPV and documentation surrounding these businesses.
o Provide support to Head of India PC-Valuations in team management and Chennai PC related initiatives and administrative requirements.
o Engage in detailed discussion with traders, risk managers and Independent Valuation Control team on the results. Liaise with valuation expert on modelling appropriateness and other technical/booking issues.

Controls
o Ensure the maintenance of a strong internal control environment. Monitor control reports to ensure accuracy of data for P&L, validation and downstream processes.
o Raise the team’s level of control awareness. Lead by example and engender a strong control culture.
o Ensure clean audit results from internal and external reviews. Be the owner of key stroke documentations for key PC processes, risk assessment and SOX documentation.

Projects and Continuous Improvements
o Identify and drive process re-engineering and constantly challenge status quo for control improvement and process efficiency.
o Motivate and empower the team to deliver continuous improvements.

Service Delivery
o Ensure adherence to daily schedule and service level agreements (SLAs).
o Ensure process compliance as per the regulatory guidelines and audit requirements.
o Oversee the preparation of basic financial analysis, impairment analysis, financial reports, financial planning and financial statements analysis.
o Review and analyse complex financial reports and financial statements analysis and present the same to the management.
o Establish innovative systems and procedures for handling data & reports and continuously improvise on them.
o Identify process improvement opportunities.
o Understand customer needs and provide innovative solutions.
o Manage and monitor quality for the business area.
o Respond to and resolve issues arising out of interactions with clients.
o Ensure open communication and address issues/ concerns raised.

What we’re looking for:

Qualifications /education:
  • MBA/Engineering Degree/Qualified accountant
  • CQF/CFA/Masters in Finance/Financial Engineering would be an advantage
Technical knowledge / skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of Financial product and markets of the relevant asset class
  • Good understanding of end-to-end processes of an IB and associated controls
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in both formal and informal settings & ability to interact with the region and London as part of a global team (written and verbal)
  • Excellent time management skills and able to prioritise
