Application Software Development Engineer/Senior Engineer

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems business unit is currently looking for a dynamic, results driven Software Development Engineer for Application Software development - Project Execution as part of the software engineering competency at our Technical Centre India in Bengaluru.
The PowerDrive Systems business (PDS) unit of BorgWarner is responsible to deliver hybrid and full electric vehicle solutions to customers..

Position Summary:
In this role, and under direct supervision of the Engineering Group Manager-Application Software, the Embedded Software Engineer will be responsible for design, development, documentation, and verification of Automotive Software Architecture and Function Algorithms related to Power Electronic Diagnostic & Control modules to meet customer, internal, and regulatory requirement in a fast-paced start-up like environment within a Fortune 500 Organization.
Major Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team to develop requirements, write, test, and document embedded software.
  • Work with the project team to meet delivery schedules
  • Follow automotive software design/code/test processes and standards (ASPICE)
  • Develop embedded software to implement control algorithms using C, AUTOSAR and Model based tools focusing on reusability across projects
  • Interface with Systems engineering teams to ensure software requirements are documented appropriately and analyzed prior to software design and implementation
  • Performs software design, generates software code for real-time embedded systems either by manual coding, configuration of AUTOSAR modules or autocoding of SIMULINK models
  • Perform Static verification checks, develop software functional test plan to execute tests on software test bench, generates required software documentation : design, test plans, test results
  • Adhere to SW development life cycle process in all phases - requirement, design, coding and testing and following AUTOSAR/In-house software architecture and adhere to Automotive SPICE-compliant development process. Drive Automation of SW Verification.
  • Work closely with system Diagnostics architecture and controls group to design Diagnostics Service mechanisms
  • Participates ins ECU design reviews with internal cross-functional engineering group, suppliers, and customers
  • Ensure documented traceability from requirements through test cases
Major Job Qualifications / Skills
  • Bachelors’/Masters’ engineering degree in Electronics/Electrical/Power Electronics/Instrumentation
  • 3-6 years of overall experience preferably in automotive embedded software development. 1+ years’ experience with vehicle embedded systems and functions preferably on high voltage power electronics products.
  • Good understanding of AUTOSAR architecture & Standards- ASW, BSW, MCAL modules for multiple SWCs, Proficiency & Hands-on of RTE generation. AUTOSAR interface adaptation for RTE communication.
  • Experience in configuration, release & build management, and extensive AUTOSAR & Plastic knowledge
  • Strong expertise in Modelling and simulation tools & autocoding using Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow/eCoder. Strong expertise in Programming (C/C++) and debugging for embedded multithreaded and multi core/CPU software environment,
  • Experience with AUTOSAR tools such as Vector DaVinci toolchain, EBTresos,
  • Good ability to comprehend microcontroller hardware and associated schematics
  • Experience designing complex fault-tolerant safety systems, and designing in accordance to industry standard specifications (e.g. ISO26262, ASPICE)
  • Deep knowledge of automotive systems and software development processes using the V-Model for both design and verification/validation activities
  • Experience with Activity Management Software (i.e. Jira) and Requirements Management Software (i.e. Polarion)
  • Working knowledge of AUTOSAR Architecture(s) and configuration(s)
  • Knowledge of AGILE development methodologies
  • Willingness to travel 5-10% as required to support customer and internal needs
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with embedded platforms, microcontrollers, A/D converters and digital logic
  • Experience with controlling automotive BLDC motors, solenoids and sensors
  • Exposure to software quality processes (ASPICE, CMMI, IATF16949)
  • Experience with Activity Management Software (i.e. Jira) and Requirements Management Software (i.e. Polarion)
