Basic Function :

Our busy, growing Boston/Bangalore office is looking to add an experienced Architecture/MEP "BIM Modeller" to its team. This "CAD / Project Set-Up Technician" will be responsible for setting up new jobs on the network, updating such jobs on a large number of concurrent projects, and performing general CAD drafting for Designers, Senior Engineers, and Engineers. This position must also ensure that all Helpdesk support issues for the Boston design staff are properly addressed/resolved.

Responsibilities :

• Set up new jobs on the network that are received from the Architect, Project Manager, and/or Group Leader, utilizing our CAD/Revit Standards. Setting up new jobs includes cleaning the plans, setting them up, and creating attributes and borders for all disciplines (mechanical, HVAC, electrical, plumbing/fire protection, and telecommunications).

• Produce drawings using AutoCAD MEP and/or Revit from marked-up drawings, verbal communication, or written direction provided by Engineers in all disciplines including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, telecommunication and/or other disciplines under the supervision of the Engineer, Project Manager, and/or Group Leader. Certain setup and updates received from the architect will be the sole responsibility of one CAD/Revit Technician per project. Drafting and design work being done for an Engineer will be under the supervision of the Engineer, Project Manager and/or Group Leader.

• Maintain/implement CAD and Revit standards put in place by the Corporate Design Technology/BIM Department and report any issues to the BIM Department. Suggest and assist in developing standards when appropriate.

• Assist in the transition of new design technology platforms, such as AutoCAD and Revit, during rollout efforts to Boston staff.

• Communicate with Project Managers regarding any issues that may arise or obstacles that may delay the delivery of project deadlines to the client in a timely manner.

• Communicate with clients and external parties to resolve file issues, determine file directions, and provide specific file services to our clients. Handle inspection and correction of files to client CAD/Revit standards as needed.

Assist staff with resolving technical issues related to design technologies through our HelpDesk system, including CAD/Revit problems, PDF conversion/creation problems, file corruptions, etc.

• Communicate with outside vendors for maintenance of plotting equipment; advise RDK/NV5 managers on equipment upgrades when appropriate.

• May assist with conducting CAD/Revit skills assessments for the office and conducting new employee CAD/Revit orientations and training.

• Communicate effectively with coworkers, vendors, and clients.

The selected candidates will be given Hardware Infra and remote VPN access to work from home until the Covid-19 situation is controlled and good to go to the office premises in Bangalore, India.
