Position Description:

Medicines Development Information and Digital Solutions (MD IDS) serves as a strategic function within Lilly Research Laboratories partnering with the Medicines Development Unit (MDU). The MDU focuses on taking potential marketable products from Research through product registration and approval. MD IDS focuses on the MDU business needs of the future, enabling improvements through information and technology solutions. The teams define and influence information and business strategies, design and develop solutions to achieve the strategic outcomes, and ensure reliable deployment and support of these solutions.

This role of the Technical Lead (Information Hub – Study Onboarding) will be primarily responsible for driving and delivering value from the MD IDS Information Hub. Acts as the primary, technical leader for a portfolio of applications and/or services involving InfoHub, leads a variety of resources (NOT a people management role) to tactically maintain their applications within service levels, and is well versed in the business processes, technologies, and vendor/user relationships tied to the applications and services. They engage with business partners, vendors, external service providers, and IT partners to enhance and maintain the value and stability of the MD IDS application portfolio. Additionally, this role will engage in transformational and Enterprise level efforts to Innovate and Accelerate our value delivery.

The Technical Lead will be responsible for end-to-end process like taking the requirement and lead the effort on designing & development of AWS python scripts, Glue jobs, Athena, Lambda and StepFunctions, changing the code and deploying to production with the help of support team.

Technical Lead Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and strategic direction to enhance the existing technology through an understanding of application landscape.

  • Uses standardized processes for requirements definition, analysis, design, construct, and test activities. Elicit business needs, perform data analysis, lead the effort on design and development of AWS cloud related work.

  • Applied knowledge of IT Service Management and implementation experience, encompasses all the processes, procedures.

  • Produces and maintains project documentation as required, including that of Computer Systems Quality (by following quality-related procedures and utilize tools such as ALM, ServiceNow and Quality Docs).

  • Provides and ensures effective impact analysis of changes, with consistency and conformance to Standard Operating Procedures for architecture, data, integrations, and processes.

  • Ensure and apply proper data security based on process, business rules and approvals. Ensures Lilly information assets are protected from malicious content and access to information is restricted to authorized personnel only.

  • Leads internal partners and external suppliers in ensuring that services deliver maximum business value, remain technically relevant, complaint, sustainable and cost effective.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent years of experience)

  • Leading a team (technically) of Software Engineers is a must with experience in software development life cycle, spanning project initiation through support.

  • Good AWS working experience in Glue, python, Lambda, StepFunctions, S3, CloudWatch etc.

  • Having good SQL experience.

  • Demonstrated learning agility both technically as well as business processes and applications

  • Demonstrated initiative to build relationships, learn new business processes and identify process improvement opportunities.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Previous Pharmaceutical IT experience would an added advantage.

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, presentation skills.

  • Excellent self-management skills. Strong problem-solving skills, Process improvement skills

  • Organization skills, Self-management. Demonstrated ability to evaluate, facilitate, and drive towards risk-based decision making. Proven team player and the ability to work in a dynamic environment, where needs and priorities can change, with compressed deadlines.
