Lead electrical engineer (design engineering) for coal/gas/co-gen/opex/renewable power plant projects.

What are the main responsibilities for this individual (i.e., reasons we need this person)?

  • To work as lead electrical engineer for coal/gas/co-gen/opex/renewable power plant projects

  • Undertake electrical design delivery of high-quality technical design drawings and specifications to the required local and international standards.

  • Undertake design of a variety of electrical design elements – Generator, Power transformers, MV & LV Distribution, Earthing & lightning protection, cable management etc.

  • Liaison with clients, developing and maintaining customer relationships

  • Co-ordinate with all other disciplines and improve inter discipline working with other discipline such as Process, Piping, Mechanical, Architecture, civil & structure, and Instrumentation.

  • Prepare electrical design deliverables and able to review design documents prepared by team members and other groups within area of expertise to ensure quality.

  • Responsible for completion of projects within his/ her team in compliance with project schedule and technical requirements.

  • Assist the team lead in presenting design solutions in meetings with clients and contractors

  • Conversant with use of tools like Dialux, Autogrid pro, ETAP etc.

  • Reliably manage a team/ group – manage staff development, personnel management, etc

    • Key Skills Required:

    What are the “must-have” skill sets, without which a candidate would not be considered and should not be submitted?

    1) Applicant to have proven experience for design of powerplant electrical system in a similar role.
    2) Applicant should be BE/BTech. Or ME/MTech. with design experience.
    3) Conversant with generation & review of deliverables pertaining to electrical systems for basic engineering, detailed design engineering, pre-bid , feasibility studies, Detailed project report of power projects.
    4) Working knowledge of IS, IEC & IEEE standards.
    5) Experience of engineering works of air insulated, and gas insulated substations, electrical equipment inspection & testing, field engineering support will be added advantage.
