We seek a Principal, Research to support the discovery of actionable business ideas that will influence Fortune 100 executives and help them transform their financial services organizations. What you will do

Principal, Research works closely with colleagues to identify and produce research that solves complex business challenges on a global scale. As a primary contributor on this team, you will:

• Engage executive roles within Fortune 500- and mid- size financial services companies to identify their most pressing priorities, and business problems.
• Take ownership for producing a portfolio of research including but not limited to: presentations and webinars, white papers, case studies, guidebooks, tools and templates, round-table discussions, or custom, in-bound research requests.
• Apply Gartner’s proprietary research process, including root cause analysis and hypothesis generation, to help identify both provocative and pragmatic solutions to many of today’s biggest financial services business challenges.
• Conduct phone interviews with executives and industry experts to understand industry issues, challenges and solutions.
• Partner with other researchers and guide/coach junior researchers to drive forward key interim and final deliverables.
• Support and/or lead efforts to translate client issues/challenges into quantitative analysis.
• Present research findings to senior Gartner managers and member companies; lead internal research checkpoints and peer review sessions to gather feedback and alternative perspectives.
• Serve as a thought partner to senior leadership and help shape the strategy of the team by identifying and driving innovations in line with the goals of the team and Gartner’s FS practice. Serve as a key contributor in team’s planning sessions and own the outcomes of assigned strategic initiatives

Basic Qualifications:

• Master’s (Sociology, History, Philosophy, Literature, MBA etc.) or PhD degrees
• 5-7 years of research and/or management consulting experience
• Experience in managing research projects that incorporate multiple points of input, including client interviews, quantitative findings, feedback from experts/other researchers, and other points of data.
• Demonstrated ability to teach and relay ideas, engage clients and work in a team environment
• Experience in analyzing quantitative and qualitative data to identify relevant findings
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
