We are seeking a Senior Director-level Engineering Leader with a proven track record in effectively working across organizations to uncover connection points and commonalities in technologies; processes; and people that can be leveraged to drive efficiencies and innovation opportunities. This leader will work collaboratively across multiple business engineering leaders in a matrixed organizational model to influence decision-making that results in Trimble India being recognized as a Center of SW Development Excellence. The ideal candidate will have a successful history of leading large R&D organizations within multinational corporations headquartered in the US and will be comfortable coordinating across both centralized (horizontal) and decentralized (vertical) development teams.

This position is based out of Chennai - Trimble Information Technology HQ, and reports directly to the VP, Horizontal Engineering in the US headquarters.

Responsibilities

• Effectively collaborate and partner with business engineering leaders to ensure India’s global, cross-organizational team delivers best-in-class scalable solutions in the latest technologies.

• Co-create the technology roadmap and direction for various transformational initiatives.

• Develop a robust, diverse, and healthy talent pipeline from intern through Distinguished Engineers and Technical Fellows, applying uniform best-in-class talent attraction/acquisition/engagement/

retention/development practices.

• Develop key uniform metrics for talent acquisitions, talent development, and career development across the board from interns to Engineering Directors and Trimble Fellows

• Proactively promote the capabilities of Trimble India Center of R&D Excellence amongst worldwide engineering leaders in 1-on-1 as well as at large internal and external forums.

• Own the Regional Engineering Council and represent the site in Trimble’s Global Engineering Council.

• Create a regular cadence of project reviews (including metrics) with all R&D and other stakeholders and identify appropriate actions and owners to ensure successful delivery.

• Be the trusted technology partner for critical accounts in the US portfolio, developing market-specific value propositions, and championing delivery excellence and product innovation across teams.

• Develop uniform key metrics across the various R&D divisions to measure productivity, quality, ability to meet deadlines, etc. in a consistent way.

• In partnership with business engineering leaders develop appropriate shared OKR’s that are made visible; socialized; reviewed; and measured across the India engineering organization.

• Conduct forums for cross-pollination of innovative ideas; quicker adoption of common platforms; and higher quality products.
• Reduce cost/time of tools development/acquisition via amortization.

• External Responsibilities

• Represent Trimble externally as a Technical visionary/thought leader in various forums such as NASSCOMM, AGI, AMCHAM, and other technical seminars

• Play a key role in building Trimble brand in various technical circles/seminars to help hire the best talent in the industry

Experience & Skills:

• The ideal candidate will have 20+ years of leadership experience in a large business environment

• 5 or more years of international experience, preferably leadership experience in the US market.

• 8 or more years leading Software Development and Engineering teams in a top-tier organization.

• Strong technical skills across Cloud, AI, Automation, DevOps, and Micro Services that ensures credibility to influence the development of world-class SW solutions across a large horizontal engineering organization.

• Experience leading an engineering organization through company-wide transformation efforts.

• Technically solid partnership skills in working with Product Management and Marketing to deliver quality products on time

• Ability to oversee and manage the delivery of multiple large projects across multiple teams and multiple lines of business

• Create an innovative culture in Trimble India and drive patents portfolio

• Be part of the Trimble India management team to ensure smooth operations

• Should be well-versed with multiple sub-cultures in India to unify leadership across teams in different regions such as Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, and Delhi.

• Experience in setting up new programs and structures for expanding Trimble’s footprint in India.

• Strong networking abilities to create and maintain relationships within different parts of the organization and outside partners

• Ability and experience in defining a long-term strategy and proven track record in executing that strategy

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability and experience of presenting to senior executives.

• Excellent interpersonal; listening; communication; collaboration; partnering; and influencing without authority skills.

• Strong people management and leadership skills.

• Ability to navigate complex organizational/social structure

• Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.

• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

Education

MS or Ph.D. in Computer Engineering or an equivalent degree, ideally from a tier-1 or tier-2 ranked institute.
