Senior Solutions Architect

Position Summary

The Senior Solution Architect is responsible for leading the creation and implementation of a technology framework and providing technical leadership in support of systems and services that run on cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive scope definition, requirements analysis, functional and technical design, performance and capacity planning
• Assist teams in building the test and production infrastructure needed to deploy resilient, redundant, secure applications
• Assist in the install, configure, administration and maintenance of high availability scalable solutions that implement industry best practices using both Private and Public Cloud.
• Provide technical expertise and ownership in the diagnosis and resolution of an issue, including the determination and provision of workaround solution or escalation to service
• Troubleshoot highly complex problems for which the analysis and resolution require extensive knowledge of many diverse system components
• Write tools to automate build, deployment and common infrastructure tasks
• Maintain awareness of current technologies and technological trends and assimilate new technology as appropriate into the company work environment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Deep understanding of cloud architecture and implementation features (OS, multi-tenancy, virtualization, orchestration, elastic scalability)
• Experience deploying and a deep understanding of existing cloud technologies including experience covering cloud security, network, cloud integration, active directory, SSO, compute, storage, database, monitoring, cloud tools, and other services
• Experience in the design and deployment of large heterogeneous distributed systems and environments
• Experience with SaaS platforms
• Demonstrated knowledge (Git, Jenkins, Chef, Puppet, Terraform and CloudFormation)
• Experience in designing HA, DR, Backup and retention architectures on cloud platforms
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Good knowledge of security trends and best practices.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical issues to non-technical users.
• Demonstrated experience with Agile development methodologies is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in computer science (or similar) or equivalent experience
• AWS Solutions Architect – Associate (preferred)
• Ability to leverage existing technologies to create simple, highly automated solutions with low maintenance overhead
• Minimum 5 years infrastructure experience
• Minimum 5 years of experience working in a continuous delivery environment managing all aspects of high availability services, including scaling, profiling, debugging, and stress testing
• Experience of Git or other distributed version control systems
• Good knowledge of Linux / RedHat / Oracle
• Strong sense of accountability towards the stability of our system
• Extreme attention to detail and follow-through

• Experience with Remote Teams
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical issues to non-technical users.
