This is a Supplier Development Engineer role at a Global Grade 14, reporting to Procurement & Logistics Manager in Process Automation Business Area , based out of Vadodara; India. You will be primarily responsible to protect customers via applying risk-oriented quality assurance methodologies and corresponding supplier development. You will be leading supplier performance evaluation and supplier quality development activities.

Your responsibilities

  • Performing supplier improvement projects (L6S).
  • Initiating, conducting and following up of supplier audits.
  • Resolving critical problems of suppliers (OTD, supplier quality) as required by SCM, Engineering, Quality.
  • Proposing measures based on quality and process measurements.
  • Driving the supplier qualification/re-qualification process and ensure the supply base is and remain fully qualified and compliant.
  • Identifying improvements of supplier base capabilities and performance to ensure conformance with Customer and ABB requirements by using Lean6Sigma and risk-based methodologies.
  • Ensuring Early Supplier Involvement (ESI) in product development activities to maximize capture of supplier innovation and improvements in Quality, Delivery, Cost and Risk level.

Your background

  • Bachelor‘s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Previous experience in Lean Management. L6S Green Belt preferred.
  • Supplier quality process control knowledge.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of various Quality tools.
  • Hands on experience of design tools like CATIA, Solid Works, Auto Cad etc..
  • Project Management Skills.
