David Evans and Associates, Inc. is expanding our Renewable Energy and Power Delivery capabilities and has an immediate opening for aTransmission Line Engineer/Designer. This position can be based in eitherPortland, OR, Salem, OR, or Corvallis OR, or Spokane, WA. The successful candidate will be highly competent in all aspects of line design and preparation of bidding and construction documents including specifications, plan and profile drawings, steel pole concept and loading drawings, assembly drawings, staking sheets, stringing charts, and guying and anchoring, quality control, electrical studies for utility clients and renewable developers across the country.

This position includes opportunities for career advancement and additional responsibilities including project management, business development, people management, and group leadership.

Duties Include But Are Not Limited To The Following
  • Lead teams of engineers and technicians in overhead and underground line design from 34.5 kV through 345 kV;
  • Provide quality control reviews of work completed by peers;
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and technicians;
  • Develop scopes of work, design fee estimates, and support proposal efforts for new projects;
  • Manage technical portion of projects: maintain technical budget, and schedule performance;
  • Develop scopes of work, design cost estimates, and prepare proposals for new projects;
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients, team members, contractors, and vendors;
  • Communicate effectively vertically and horizontally; internally and externally.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelors of Science in engineering, construction or similar
  • 8+ years of transmission specific engineering and design experience with a Professional Engineering License; or 12+ years of transmission design experience.
  • Highly competent with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE;
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering;
  • Profession Engineering License;
  • Underground high voltage design;
  • Capabilities with overhead transmission electrical studies, such as induction, losses, grounding, shielding and insulation coordination;
  • PLS Tower experience a plus.
  • Experience in developing scopes of work and design fee estimates
