The People Analytics team provides support for HSBC businesses and Human Resource function globally through analytically driven HR insights and decision support solutions. The role requires continuous engagement with business partners across the globe to understand the scope and nature of the business, thereby delivering accurate and timely information. This steady flow of services from the People Analytics team ensures continuous monitoring and appraisal of against the strategic objectives of HSBC as well as the industry benchmarks in HR domain leading to a competitive advantage and informed decision making.

The people analytics is operating across specialisms like business facing consulting, Digital Insights, Data sciences and CDO in the Human Resources domain to provide insight and analytical solutions globally.

This can be stratified as the following: -

  • Digital Insights - Building an Agile, “Fungible” team, bias for delivery, Unified Tooling Mix that does right tool for right outcome, more digitally focused (Mobile app/ chatbots), focus on promoting self-service, empowering our colleagues with ready to consume data/visualisations, Improved Regulatory solutions, driving HR data literacy across broader HR/Bank and continued focus to enhance the user engagement & experience with products/solutions
  • Business Facing consulting - Provide analytics solutions to business partners & senior stakeholders across global lines/regions/GSO by understanding the business questions and driving data driven decision making
  • Data Science -Develop a people data science practice by developing & demonstrating core capabilities using NLP, ML techniques, drive adoption of cloud platform by using GCP infrastructure, and establish a network aimed at learning, teaching and collaborating
  • HR Chief Data Office – Structured across three key pillars Data governance, Data architecture, and Data quality & issue management to ensure better compliance with law and regulatory requirement, defined remediation processes to deal with data issues.

The proposed role is part of digital insights practice and incumbent would require to work across other people analytics specialism and business partners across the globe/GSO to understand the scope and nature of the existing requirement to ensure continuous evolution of data driven products against the strategic objectives of HSBC HR Domain leading to a competitive advantage and informed decision making.

The role will require in-depth business knowledge across a breadth of functional areas and HSBC business units. Set up processes to ensure documentation of results and follow sustainable, robust documentation practices in the team. Act as Functional Subject matter expert (SME) and independently lead the project/work working with other colleagues.

The incumbent would be required to take lead on BI projects assigned to him / her and the team from various group entities and business geographies, as required. The role will require the incumbent to plan and execute the assigned projects/ analysis as per the agreed timelines and deliver with accuracy and quality. Supporting ad-hoc analytical needs of the process on an on-going basis is also expected from the incumbent.

This position may include direct people management responsibility. However, as a project manager, the incumbent is expected to provide functional guidance to the team members across geographies.

  • Sees the ’bigger picture’ and assesses relationships between recommended analytical solutions / projects and business performance. Good understanding of business domain, functional goals, and the required technical expertise
  • Owns larger objectives for digital insights priorities and delivery of analytical solutions for the business stakeholders across one of more regions
  • Co-author the contents/visualization using BI platform and partner with GSO/senior stakeholders in evolving their products by adopting analytical strategies / decision making to achieve a higher value.
  • Translate key analytical solutions as generic and re-deployable across regions / markets

This role is based out of People Analytics, Bangalore as part of broader Global Analytics Centre (GAC) under digital insights specialism. The principal accountability would be to drive the evolution of BI product, promote self-service, and enhance the enaggement with existing product/solution being created, generate data reports and analytics to support business activities, projects, product planning, performance measurement, regulatory requests and decision making. The incumbent to work as individual contributor and responsible for:

  • Consult with stakeholders to determine BI & data requirements for enterprise BI systems
  • Generate data from relevant HSBC systems as well as external sources
  • Participation on the design and delivery of digital insights applications
  • Conduct analysis to detect trends and anomalies and explain variances to a variety of stakeholders
  • Suggest remedial actions or escalate detections which give cause for concern
  • Share information with stakeholders in suitable forms, these may be charts, tables or templates
  • Participate in forums, meetings or events to interpret data and support decision making
  • Manage relationship with key stakeholders to build confidence in team and enable stakeholder’s investment in development of the team
  • Accelerate Innovative distribution channels for reporting to enhance brand and embed self-service using new age technologies
  • Coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, meeting deadlines
  • On-board, train, coach, motivate and develop talent and proactively retain high performing team members of analytics
  • Proactively work within team to ensure business continuity of key processes/activities

Management of Risk/Internal Controls/Compliance:

  • The jobholder will continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology.
  • The jobholder will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.
  • The jobholder will implement the Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in liaison with Global Head of Compliance, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.
  • This will be achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with Compliance department about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also, and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimising relations with regulators.
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • 8+ year of relevant experience. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from reputed university.
  • Adept in data & analytics with relevant experience in business analysis, requirement development and implementation of BI solutions with proficiency with one of standard visualization tools (Power BI, Oracle BI, Tableau, or similar BI tools) and Ms-Office.
  • Strong Business Intelligence skills with business analysis aptitude. Knowledge and understanding of financial-services/ banking-operations is advantageous.
  • Ability to improvise the existing solutions/products from the current state, as continuous improvement initiatives given the dynamic and evolving service delivery model
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills are essential. Demonstrated initiative and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a changing environment are necessary.
  • Capability to understand business requirement, and implement BI/Analytical solutions & techniques independently or with minimal supervision and expertise in extracting insights from larger volumes of data using visualizations and convert them into meaningful actions for business
  • Excellent communication skills with technical (R, SQL, Oracle, BI tools) and non-technical (senior entity management around the globe) counterparts; being able to "translate" between the two worlds.
  • Project management skills (Waterfall/Agile), planning & organizing skills, experience in management information on Human Resource data (knowledge on Success Factors, PeopleSoft, other HR ERPs is preferred)
  • Proactive, independent and focused individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple demands, highly organized and methodical approach required.
  • Ability to navigate through difficult situations, managing conflicts, and driving team level initiatives.
  • Ability to analyze, reconcile and interpret data with good understanding of HR life cycle and processes
  • Knowledge of Cloud Computing (Azure, AWS, GCP), and or exposure to Data Quality assessment and control (IBM MDM, Reference Data Management) is a plus
