Overview

A vacancy has arisen for an Editorto work on our print and online tax learning materials. The role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to an indispensable part of our business. As an Editor you will take a pivotal role in ensuring our customers receive accurate and timely professional information.

Editor Role

The Editor will be responsible for the maintenance and quality assurance of print and online products within the tax learning market and will work with editorial and technical departments to provide content for various platforms. You will edit and format the tax learning materials on a daily basis using provided style guides and to strict deadlines. The role also involves working closely with our tax tutors and writers in the UK to update existing content, to add new content and to create new products as required by our clients.

Key aspects of the role:

  • monitoring, tracking and updating tax learning materials
  • maintenance of editorial and stylistic standards
  • work effectively with other departments to ensure integrity of print and online product
  • quality assurance of updated material
  • updating and maintaining our online platform
  • dealing with technical teams, project teams and third party suppliers as well as customer services as required
  • work with minimal supervision
  • maintaining and updating administrative documents

  • good working knowledge of Microsoft office packages especially Word for editing purposes
  • knowledge of Adobe Acrobat would be advantageous
  • ability to manage own workload

Desirable skills:

  • experience of working on an electronic service using XML
  • the ideal candidate would be able to demonstrate an understanding or previous experience of working within the Tax publishing market

Education: Specialized/ Technical

  • A university degree or equivalent qualification or relevant work experience
  • An excellent command of the English language both spoken and written
  • Basic knowledge of tax cycle desirable but not essential

Experience

  • Editing experience (2 years)
  • Experience working in a publishing environment
  • Computer proficiency in MS Word
  • Experience working in xml and with content management systems

  • Excellent communication and prioritisation skills
  • · A keen eye for detail to maintain the quality of content
  • Excellent time management, ability to multi-task and coordinate projects simultaneously
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing and new processes
  • Administrative/organisational skills including motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision with proven track record of this
  • Responsibility for own workload and ability to make decisions to move work forward.

  • An ability to problem-solve and enthusiasm for working on electronic and print products
