Responsibilities

The Communication department of Societe Generale Asia-Pacific (approx. 11,000 staff across 12 geographies) is ensuring:

  • The definition and implementation of the Communication strategy, in line with the company’s identity and objectives in the region, as well as the directions and organisation given by Societe Generale group’s Communication division;
  • The promotion of Societe Generale’s brand identity and corporate values to its internal and external stakeholders;
  • The support of the corporate strategy and business expertise, principally in Corporate & Investment banking, with Corporate & Social Responsibility and Innovation as key enablers.

The Communication department consists of a team based in Hong Kong and dedicated teams in key locations: China, India, Japan, and Singapore for SE Asia. Structured to support key areas of focus (Corporate identity & strategy / Business expertise / Innovation / Corporate & Social responsibility), the department encompasses the following channels:

  • Branding & advertising;
  • Partnerships & citizenship;
  • Media relations;
  • Editorial & digital communications;
  • Events.

Societe Generale in India is present through two entities under the Societe Generale brand: Societe Generale Global Solution Centre (based Bangalore/Chennai) and Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking (based in Mumbai/Delhi/Hyderabad/Chennai). SG GSC is delivering offshoring solutions to all Societe Generale entities across the world, primarily for their wholesale banking activities. SG GSC has another entity based in Romania, with a dedicated communication team.

Whilst the position focuses on the SG GSC activities in India, it also contributes to promoting the Societe Generale corporate brand in India, as well as promoting the GSC expertise to all SG entities globally, in coordination with the GSC teams based in Romania.

Role summary

Based in Bangalore, working under the supervision of the Head of Communication – Global Solution Centre, India, the Communication Administration Officer is responsible for providing operational support and governance to allow an efficient day-to-day operation of the communication activities.

The role specifically focuses on the following:

  • Responsible for team coordination, alignment on overall communication department calendar and updates (HR etc.), meetings, reporting, team events
  • Support on various internal operational processes including risk, sourcing, admin, information security, training, IT infrastructure, onboarding and offboarding of team members
  • Budget management: coordination of the communication budget, tracking and monitoring spends
  • Coordination of communication procedures: compliance, permanent supervision, risk management, crisis communication

Main responsibilities

  • Governance
    • Responsible for team coordination, alignment on overall communication department calendar and updates (HR etc.), meetings, reporting, team events
    • Support in producing transversal presentations
  • Operational support:
    • Onboarding/offboarding of new joiners/leavers in Communications
    • Managing user access to Societe Generale and communication tools and applications
    • Transversal administrative support, including team meetings and events coordination
    • Point of contact for transversal services (including risk, sourcing, admin, information security, training, IT infrastructure)
  • Budget management:
    • Participation in defining the communication budget
    • Budget monitoring, coordinating with the communication leads and heads
    • Budget reconciliation
  • Communication tools and processes, including:
    • Coordination of permanent supervision on communication and a comprehensive integration of LOD2/LOD3 dimension
    • Defining business continuity plan and crisis communication procedures
    • Coordination of risk control, GDPR
    • Sourcing/vendor guidelines and contracts

The role implies also proactive coordination/alignment with the regional admin officer to ensure consistency and assist the other Communication team members across Asia-Pacific as and when required.

Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration / communication / legal / finance
  • Minimum experience in the corporate world, incl. in the financial industry or communication activity
  • Excellent command in English
  • Taste for communication activities
  • Understanding of technology with ability to provide basic support
  • Strong skills in Microsoft office tools, incl. Excel, Powerpoint
  • Relationship and adaptation skills: a team player with ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders at all levels
  • Service-driven, dynamic and open-minded: a doer with ability to steer business/support functions towards a common goal
  • Trustworthy, with sensitivity to confidential matters, and transparent
