Job Description:

JOB PURPOSE:

To supervise employees responsible for performing Machine shop facility maintenance functions and planning, coordinating and monitoring of maintenance related operations.

JOB RELATED STATISTICS:

Operating Expenses: $.5-2.5Million

Personnel: <50 Hourly

JOB DUTIES:

Supervises employees and outside contractors’ work force, including assigning jobs, monitoring work loads, providing material and equipment and assistance in determining when, where and how work is to be completed. Provides Product Groups with project status updates, discusses priorities, determines overtime needs and shift manpower to meet scheduling needs. Ensures proper supervision and direction of assigned operations for effective utilization of personnel. Develops and motivates contractors’ supervisors and employees to assure desired standards and objectives are met / achieved. Supervises employees and gives direction and assignments to non-Caterpillar employees as needed to accommodate special circumstances and complete projects on schedule. Provides evaluation and recommendation of contractors services for use in selecting contractors for future projects.

Plans, implements and controls site alterations budget with approval of the Manager. Works with Product Groups and consolidates projects at the Plant level for inclusion in Departmental budget.

1. To handle preventive/ breakdown maintenance independently.

2. To manage spare parts, ordering and preparation of specifications for critical equipment/s.

3. Mechanical maintenance of both static & rotary equipment/s of the plant.

4. Root cause analysis of Breakdowns and initiate an effective action plan.

5. Oversee and monitor the maintenance of Mechanical parts for all utility support systems.

6. To maintain interchangeability of material to keep low inventory.

7. Continual improvement in Reliability and Efficiency of system.

8. Energy conservation and improvement in operation and maintenance.

9. Preparation of weekly and monthly cost report.

10. To ensure compliance of safe working conditions and safety procedures.

11. To maintain statutory norms and regulations.

12. Inventory controls and innovation in related field.

13. Making standardization of equipment/s & spare parts.

14. Planning & taking care of Preventive Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance, Periodic Maintenance.

15. Erection of new equipment/s as per SOP

16. Maintaining ISO and EHS Documentation.

17. Data recording and analysis to reduce the cost of maintenance.

18. Knowledge in SAP system.

19. Knowledge of Integrated Management System (ISO 9001,14001&OHSAS18001).

20. Find out training need of subordinates and train them up & also to guide, motivate and monitor team members.

21. Coordination with Production, HR, Vendors, Contractors, Accounts for smooth functioning of the Maintenance activities of Utility department.

The position supervises or manages a working unit of primarily salaried or hourly employees where planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reviewing work of subordinates is required. The position is responsible for expense budgets, capital forecasts and expenditures, and all personnel issues in the area including performance evaluations of subordinates. The position often confronts complex issues and problems that require careful analysis and diagnosis. Problems are often unique and solutions can require original approaches. The incumbent may modify existing approaches or develop new solutions. The incumbent establishes and then monitors general policies and guidelines for projects under his/her control, to ensure specific management goals are met and desired results are achieved. The position impacts key quality goals, including Continuous Improvement, Delivery Timeliness, Equipment Accuracy, Operational Efficiency, Cost Savings, Process Capability, Part Quality, ISO and Class A Certification, etc.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent with more than 10 years of job-related experience is typically required.

  • The jobholder initiates communication with others outside the immediate work group to work on new ideas or to counsel others, etc. The ability to listen to others is important to the job.

  • Interest to work in all 3 shifts on a rotational basis

Technical Skills:-

  • Should have worked on HMC ,VMC , Washing machine and SPM of Mazak, Heller, Starrag.

  • Should able to understand Machine drawing and diagnose the issue. Should have worked on CNC machine like Fanuc, Siemens 840D, Siemens 802D ,Mazatrol.

  • Should have knowledge of Hydraulic and pneumatics. Solve the issue pertaining to systems.

  • Should able to understand Geometrical accuracy of the machine and correct accordingly.

  • Should understand the control and power circuit of equipment.
