We are looking for a curious, open minded interaction designer to join Trimble UX, a young, fast-growing Design division within Trimble.

You will learn and execute along with your peers compelling, thoughtful and beautiful user experiences for diverse technologies and platforms. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional product teams comprising of fellow interaction designers, product managers and engineers across global locations, and translate requirements, user research and intentions into digital products that actively help our users and customers be more productive. You must be comfortable engaging with customers, partners, internal teams in both small and large group settings and you should be open to learn and explore to nurture your passion and start building your path to help transform the way the world works.

Responsibilities

• Closely collaborate with fellow designers and engineering teams to identify product goals, vision and requirements.

• Partner with User Researchers / Product Managers to talk with customers to understand the user needs, goals and motivations.

• Conceptualize and define a design experience that supports customer needs and customer requirements.

• Verify and improve on designs through reviews, validations and usability testing with end users.

• Flexibility and adaptability to handle multiple projects and new technologies.

• Become a subject matter expert with the ability to understand the latest architecture, technology, solutions, market trends in respective platforms.

• Effectively manage and balance design production and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Skills

• Proficient expertise in user-centric design process and methodologies.

• Exhibit a wild creative mind and attention to detail with good aesthetic sense.

• Credible experience in executing projects across various stages of the design process. Enough data should be given to substantiate exposure/experience in these areas.

( Ideation, Information Architecture, User Flows, Low & Hi fidelity Wireframes Prototyping, Visual Design, Usability Testing )

• Proficient expertise in using various design tools such as:

Sketch, Adobe CC ( Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, Premiere Pro, After Effects ), Invision, Zeplin

• Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and analytical skills.

• Positive attitude, self-motivation and quality of work.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and crave for learning.

• Strong leader and proven team player in a collaborative, high achievement-oriented environment.

• Ability to thrive in multidisciplinary teams, keeping up with quality standards

Additional Skills ( Bonus Points )

• Experience with Motion Graphics and Animation effects.

• Have presented concepts/papers to a wider audience in a conference like setting.

• Having a strong & diverse design portfolio to present.

• Portfolio of applications currently publicly available.
  

Experience

• 0-2 years of working experience in user experience and interaction design for complex enterprise applications across various platforms.

• Strong background in user-centered design principles across desktop, mobile, and web platforms.

• Proven track record for designing web/mobile based applications.

Minimum Required Qualification

B.Des in Graphics Design, Information Design, Interaction Design, New Media Design, Digital Game Design or Product Design from the National Institute of Design in India

Or

M.Des in Graphics Design or Product Design from the National Institute of Design in India

Or

M.Des in Interaction Design or Industrial Design from IIT, Bombay.

Or

B.Des / M.Des in User Experience & Interaction Design from IIT, Kanpur

Or

B.Des / M.Des / Ph.D in User Experience & Interaction Design from IIT, Guwahati.

or an equivalent Degree / Diploma from a similarly ranked international institute.

Reporting

The person employed on this role shall report to the Associate Creative Director in Chennai or a person designated by the company.

Training, on the job coaching and assessment

Upon joining the candidate will be given an induction. The induction program includes topics that introduces the company, the team and the engineering practices widely adopted, besides HR & IS Policies. The candidate shall also be introduced to the projects the candidate might probably work and the tools used by the team on tracking work progress.

Besides, the candidate will receive on the job coaching, as required, in order to be successful.

Trimble follows a quarterly pattern of assessment. Business goals and development plans are set annually, as needed by the business. Salary revisions, if any, are made on an annual basis.

Growth Opportunities

The candidate on this role is expected to be on the job for 3 to 5 years before looking for career growth. The next possible career growth option is to take up the role of a Design Lead, where the candidate may have opportunities to lead small design teams or drive design initiatives at a project / program level.

Travel and Long Term Transfer Opportunities

While there may be project related short term travels at times, this role has no scope for any long term job transfers to other locations. All travels are decided by business needs.

The team hiring for this position, Spime (meaning Space and Time), is a young, fast-growing R&D division within Trimble. After being acquired by Trimble in 2012, this team has generated waves in the company – their primary goal is to incubate strategic technologies and help other divisions to move forward by inducting them rapidly into their product lines. A high-visibility, horizontal team with strong leadership and engineering skills, they are known as the “growth team” in Trimble, as the Spime team helps unblock anything that blocks Trimble’s business/growth.
