About the Job

The Head-Steel Melting Shop is responsible for direction, strategy, planning and execution for the Plant operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the steel melting plant, including production, maintenance, safety, and quality control.

Roles & Responsibilities

• To manage and direct the activities of SMS (Induction Furnace, AOD, LRF) & CCM operations and production with respect to process logistics and metallurgy.
• To ensure output, cost, efficiency, and quality targets are achieved.
• To coordinate with other departments to ensure that production targets are met.
• Investigates and Monitors performance, analyses shortfall and abnormalities within the process, implements remedial actions and suggests technical change where necessary. Ensure CAPA implementation.
• Technical analysis of process parameters to enhance production.
• Manage the plant budget and ensure that expenses are within budgetary limits.
• Economic value addition in steel making operation by optimizing charge-mix and alloy addition for required chemistry.
• Ensure that Good Manufacturing Practice is followed in the plant to minimize wastage and breakdown in the plant.
• Ensures effective implementation of the Quality Control Plans and ensure proper coordination with quality team to restrict rejection and customer’s satisfaction.

• Develop and implement training programs to ensure that plant personnel have the necessary skills to perform their jobs.
• Interaction with the technology suppliers & vendors engaged in SMS and ensure improvement in productivity.
• To study the technical feasibility and analyse the production & cost benefits of implementing latest processes, technologies & equipment’s in Steel Melt Shop
• Ensure Technological Improvement in SMS
• To stay up to date with industry trends and technologies to ensure that the plant is competitive.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s/master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a steel melting plant environment, with at least 5 years in a managerial role
• Knowledge of steel melting plant operations, including production, maintenance, safety, and quality control
• Knowledge of industry regulations and standards
• Exposure to Operation management principles
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to lead and motivate a team.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and deadlines.
