Position(Designation): Packaging Development Manager
Dept/Division:Packaging /Technology

Location: MARKS, Mumbai

Key Deliverables of the Role

  • Conceptualize, develop and execute the packaging formats in Hair and Foods category for Marico products for domestic business to get Packaging leadership.
  • Keep tab on latest global Packaging developments/Innovations to present and execute relevant/new concepts/ideas and technologies for Marico
  • Regularly benchmark/scan relevant packaging formats and technology for both direct and indirect competition and use relevant insights for Marico.
  • Maintain strong connect and develop model for continuous sourcing of packaging components with right mix of speed, quality and cost based on brand requirement to create uniqueness in market place along with sourcing team.
  • Work closely with cross functional internal team with highly effective project management techniques to be first time right and on time, for developing and implementing NPDs, Technology led and Total value management (Cost management) Packaging projects.
  • Handle completely new products and packaging as well as upgrading complete packaging for existing products from conceptual design till execution include selection, trials, documentation and implementation.
  • Execute optimal packaging concepts from inception to execution with scientific mindset on predictability and creating unique ideas in terms of design, functionality which could be registered or patented for Marico

Critical Competencies

  • Strong Networking skills, influencing skills, negotiation skills, teamwork, project management skills along with leadership quality to develop the team as well as handle projects independently.
  • Handling diversity e.g. working knowledge of product stability and functionality for Rigid Plastics, semi rigid (tubes, cartons etc.) and decoration technologies for personal care products like hair oil, tonics, serums and skin care etc. including line and transit trials.

Qualification & Experience

  • P.G. Diploma in Packaging from IIP or similar institute
  • 5-8 years in the area of developing and optimizing packaging formats in India or abroad for Personal care and Food category like Hair Gels / creams, Edible oils, Breakfast Cereals etc.
  • Consumer insighting to understand on-going and future consumer Packaging trends
