The Role:The EHS Manager will support and facilitate to realize the business objective of the company to meet Global Safety, Environment and Health standards and comply with the legal and statutory requirements.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Safety, health and environmental compliances related to the operations of organization.
  • Ensure all the legal and regulatory compliances related to electricity, hazardous materials, water and air are working within the threshold limits.
  • Establish strategy and objectives for sustainability improvement in line with Company’s Sustainability Strategy and implement the programs to bring up the sustainability performance of the company.
  • Enhance ESH maturity and performance through robust programmes.
  • Enhance Engagement level through ESH promotional activities, tool box talks , monthly bulletins, theme driven management inspections.
  • Conduct HIRA and EIA at periodic intervals and establish the mitigation or elimination measures.
  • Assess the Management System for ESH and propose Management Programs.
  • To identify the changes brought in the legislation and incorporate the same in the management system.
  • Report the MIS to top management
  • To coordinate with other departments to develop strategies to improve the ESH.
  • Promote creative culture, Kaizens, 5 S and lean manufacturing methods.
  • Manage and utilize the resources effectively and increase the accountability factor.
  • Provide thought leadership on safety, health, environmental and quality management practices.
  • Accountable for developing and implementing the EHS Strategic and Operational plans.
  • Consolidation of EHS services for optimization, efficiency and value creation through the use of advanced technological platforms.
  • Ensuring provision of effective and efficient EHS support services in support of creating a healthy and safe working environment.
  • Develop and ensure implementation of appropriate safety, health, environmental and quality management strategies for the organization.
  • Establish consistent methodologies for identifying, prioritizing, reporting, and addressing safety, health and environmental threats and opportunities. All reports must be submitted and presented in a timely manner and action implementation.
  • Design and develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for processes/procedures, analyses and validates existing protocols and/or recommends and implements necessary improvement.
  • Implement incident prevention programs and ensure corrective and preventive action is taken on all reported incidents.
  • Ensure that company complies with national and international standards such as ISO 14001, ISO 9001, ISO 4500, applicable to Xylem India and other related standards in areas of safety, security, health, environment and quality.
  • Ensure appropriate employee training of relevant staff with respect to safety, health, environment and quality strategies and requirements.
  • Prepare status reports on safety, health, environment and quality at company sites and communicate these to relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all company sites comply with organizational policies, procedures and practices in areas of safety, health, environment and quality.
  • Develop and maintain information management systems to facilitate monitoring and evaluation activities including effective change and incident management systems.
  • Ensure that all company health care facilities at various company sites meets international quality standards and provide quality services to company staff.
  • Internal and external stakeholders, participate in meetings and forums, such as the monthly Safety meetings.
  • Determine KPI’s in the portfolios and ensure company meets performance targets approved by the company Executive.
  • Manage relationships and represent the company where applicable.
  • Conduct performance management contracting and reviews for all staff at the recommended periods identify training interventions, recommend and draw up developmental plans.
  • Knowledge and competence in the development and implementation of behavioral based safety programs and process safety programs
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations.

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • Degree / Diploma in Industrial Safety and Environmental Engineering
  • Knowledge of Computers and ERP
  • Knowledge of OHSAS and EMS
  • Knowledge of Assembly and testing of large and medium sized Pumps
  • At least 8-12yrs of working experience
