Job Description Summary In this role Manufacturing & testing Specialist will lead manufacturing & testing processes of locomotive product. You will be responsible for maintain the testing activity and testing and you will lead manufacturing processes of a Cabinet product line. Essential Responsibilities:

  • Ensure testing process in line with approved procedures & tools required for product testing in line with electrical safety , global practices & QMS
  • Train HPT member on product testing & troubleshooting
  • Ensure timely troubleshooting testing failure support to meet build plan & output as per takt time
  • Maintain test equipment up-time – no lost starts, proper PM/calibration processes and test processes that meet takt time
  • Coordinate the repair of failed equipment, ensuring it is sent out and received in a timely manner
  • Plan for spares and cables & ensure their availability
  • Coordinate operation activities to ensure production schedules and customer satisfaction
  • Coordinate and provide technical, quality and production leadership to assigned Cells / Teams
  • Lead project tracking and reviews to implement the improvement
  • Tooling & fixture design for assembly & test, write specification for outsourcing tooling/fixture
  • Implement and execute 5S programs, Kaizen events, Root cause analysis 5 Why’s
  • Assist Production Team leader in coaching employees
  • Practice sound human relations and communications skills to motivate the assigned workforce
  • Develop / implement creative solutions to customer impact prioritized product design improvements
  • Track and resolve prioritized product design quality and cost out projects in a timely manner
  • Develop proactive, product quality improvements and resolve existing quality issues
  • Apply Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), Manufacturing (DFM), Assembly (DFA), and Reliability (DFR) tools
  • Achieve highest safety levels in the plant
  • Build plant lean culture by influencing, collaborating and communicating with all levels of employees
  • Mentor, train, and motivate new team members through training initiatives
  • Assist Leaders with overall Product Group decision making in areas of process improvement

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline
  • 3-7 years hands on experience in High voltage electrical panel testing & trouble shooting
  • Prior experience & knowledge in testing of IGBTs , capacitors, reactors, high voltage cables, control systems
  • High level of electrical drawings/schematics/standards understanding

  • Knowledge of value stream mapping, one-piece flow, Action Workouts, Kaizen, Gemba walk, Production Preparation Process, 5S, and other lean tools
  • Ability to work within a cross functional team and influence decisions
  • Prior experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) / Design for Assembly (DFA)
