The role is to perform activities related to design, development, testing, deployment, support and maintenance of new, or existing, Barclays software applications and information systems as per the key accountabilities described below.

What will you be doing?

  • Understand the various phases of the software development lifecycle
  • Undertake impact assessment and estimation of change requests against applications / products within domain
  • Liaise with stakeholders for any requirement clarification to take that to closure.
  • Responsible for design, development & local test and adherence to all coding standards
  • Document all work in accordance with agreed standards, and with re-use in mind
  • Report progress against assigned activities in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate passion for adoption of new tools, processes and technical developments to drive continuous improvement by maintaining an in-depth understanding of relevant and up to date knowledge of applications and techniques

What we’re looking for:

  • Must have experience of working in an IT project environment preferably in card acquiring domain in banking and financial sector.
  • Strong analytical skills, proficiency in COBOL, JCL, VSAM. Unit testing and system testing approach
  • Hands on knowledge on FileAid in Mainframe.
  • Good working experience of version control tool like Endeavour
  • Knowledge of Change, Incident and Problem Management process
  • Ability to articulate mapping of requirements to technical changes
  • A natural collaborator and keen to learn from others

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Working knowledge on REXX
  • Hand on RDBMS DB2 and CICS experience
  • Working in an agile environment
  • Exposure on Object oriented programming
