What our team does

The CX Product Catalog team is an umbrella organization encompassing all CX Cloud products at Oracle. Our job is to ensure that the CX products work and play well with each other in terms of feature, function, security, standards, and integrations. This team is highly visible to executive management and has executive backing on projects enabling multiple projects to get started and completed. On a day-to-day basis, the team:

Generates next-gen ideas that will be used to make marketers, merchandisers, sales reps, and service agents more effective

Collaborates with teams across the Oracle CX suite of products to promote, plan, and execute projects that will further unify those products

Collaborates with teams throughout the Oracle business apps division and beyond to understand and optimize underpinnings of the Oracle tech stack

What you’ll do

Learn about our Cloud software applications and technology

Get familiar with our users and determine what they need

Stay on top of trends in user assistance, visual communication, and information architecture – and use what you learn to constantly innovate and improve

Advocate for our users

Review product pages and related product components to ensure usability, quality, and consistency of design

Review and edit customer-facing UI text – including messages, field labels, and tip text – to ensure that it helps users prevent mistakes and be successful

Design and write engaging, clear, and minimalist documentation that’s appropriate for end users, software implementers/partners, and system administrators

Produce content that follows DITA standards and company style standards, maintains a conversational voice, and requires minimal rework during the editing and review process

Make use of effective visual information design strategies to create infographics, flow diagrams, and other visuals that aid understanding

Collaborate with a variety of groups, including UX, Product Management, Development, QA, Strategy, and Support to produce top-notch assets that support product rollout and maintenance

Manage your time, own your work, and be our team’s face to the world

Manage your own user assistance and product review tasks and deliverables while working with scrum teams in an Agile development framework

Participate in development discussions and scrum events

Represent the Information Development team in a variety of cross-product teams and projects

What you need to be successful

BA/BS or MA/MS in Technical Communication, Engineering, or a related field, with 5+ years of experience in writing software documentation and developing related forms of user assistance.

Solid experience documenting REST API and integrations for a more technical audience is a plus.

Must have

Outstanding written and oral communication skills. You must be able to prepare written communication and convey information clearly with an approachable, conversational tone

Demonstrated proficiency in understanding user requirements and addressing those requirements in documentation

Experience with and knowledge of a range of visual information design techniques

Understanding of and experience with DITA. Proficiency in designing and developing content that follows DITA standards

Ability to quickly learn and communicate technical concepts and procedures

Ability to effectively multi-task, prioritize, schedule, and meet aggressive deadlines with a proven track record of delivering on time and to quality metrics

Demonstrated ability to operate independently and as part of a larger, virtual team. Ability to develop working relationships with other internal groups to meet objectives and complete tasks

Organized, professional, motivated, and deft at making quick decisions

Proven ability to think critically, solve problems, and take initiative

Nice to have

Understanding of and experience with customer experience business processes

Experience documenting product integrations, data loading and extraction, and REST APIs

Experience with Oracle Applications Cloud services

Experience working with an XML-based authoring tool

Passion to stay current with industry trends and related technology

Broad understanding of and experience with agile software design and management

A sense of humor is always a plus!

Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance, test or user manuals for paper, multimedia or web-based publications. Contributes to the timely design, production and delivery/completion of product documentation and document sets.

As a member of the technical writing division, you will organize and prepare information for publication and develop publication concepts for the best communication of subject matter. Review technical information prepared by other staff members for clarity and content. Take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
