Function Description-

Preparation of Bank Holding Company regulatory filings (e.g. 2314/Y-11, FR Y-9LP, 009 Country Exposure Report, TICs etc.) to the United States Federal Reserve Bank of New York (Federal Reserve) and assist in preparation of related reports as required. The incumbent will have the opportunity to gain a rewarding experience in the highly visible and critical area of regulatory reporting for American Express subsidiaries. This individual will be exposed to American Express systems & processes and will work with several internal & external groups outside of Controllership/Finance (including senior leaders of the Company) during the course of these filings. This is a unique opportunity to lead end to end preparation and filing of the FRB reports for the company.

Purpose of the Role-

These quarterly/monthly filings report certain financial and non financial information in accordance with the applicable Federal Reserve and other authoritative guidance at both the Consolidated American Express Co. and at the subsidiary legal entity levels. Responsibilities-

  • Support the regulatory reporting preparation and filings.
  • The Entity Submissions & Consolidations team provides support for the standard submissions to all the entities / markets. The incumbent will be responsible for review of the submission to ensure completeness, correctness & adherence to timelines. The consolidated information is shared with the External Reporting team & also consumed internally for regulatory reports preparations.
  • Understand regulatory reporting requirements and apply/implement the same to the reports
  • Follow the established controls and checks to ensure integrity of the information collected including documenting process/entity specific knowledge.
  • Collaborate with multiple partners across Controllership, Business Unit and other organizations to source information and deliver on customer expectations.
  • Expected to quickly gain detailed understanding of inputs, processes, controls, flows, metrics, risks, and outputs of the process area.
  • Participate in standardization and continuous improvement initiatives as well as other business partner initiatives and maintain high accuracy and productivity standards
  • Understand RRD platform, architecture and the report logics build to maintain and run automated reports
  • Ensure that all deadlines are continually met
  • Support special projects as needed, including enhancing policies and procedures around the regulatory reporting process.

Past Experience-

  • US GAAP knowledge & experience
  • Regulatory/ external reporting experience is preferable

Academic Background-

  • Commerce graduate or MBA with 2+ years of relevant experience in financial accounting or reporting processes.

Functional Skills/Capabilities:

  • Good understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Self-driven, team player, have analytical skills and inclination for process improvement.

  • For an internal candidate, knowledge of company policies, businesses, finance processes and systems is desirable
  • Understanding of financial domain and AXP systems

Technical Skills

  • Good analytical skills and inclination of process improvement
  • Understanding of accounting and legal entities
  • Must be proficient in MS Applications such as Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Knowledge of Automation & Testing Preferred

Knowledge of Platforms-

Oracle, Essbase, RRD architecture
