Job SummaryWorks independently under close supervision, enhance product workflow by analyzing and developing logistics and transportation plans that affect production, distribution, and inventory. Create and review procedures for distribution and inventory management to maximize customer satisfaction and minimize cost. Ensure rational distribution and delivery according to analysis report and tracking records.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of importance)
Performs costing and pricing analysis for carrier pricing and proposals.
Defines baseline logistics transportation cost benchmarks. Validate transportation KPI’s.
Performs transportation modeling utilizing current modeling software packages or data base creation. Execute lane analysis, mode analysis, dedicated route analysis and price analysis resulting in final carrier award.
Creates and implements carrier RFP’s. Manage carrier acquisition process from RFP to contract award.
Creates and maintains database for transportation logistical information data and reports for Logistics department and field distribution.
Acquires, collects and maintains pertinent data for transportation analysis and modeling.
Provides transportation market analysis and market trend analysis.
Provides design and operational solutions in areas of transportation network analysis and distribution analysis. Select solution that meets customer requirements and VWR KPI’s.
Analyze carrier performance and subsequently execute system improvements in our proprietary rating and routing software.
Performs on- going assessment of transportation network for continuous improvement.
Manage carrier quarterly review process for assigned carriers.
Execute carrier sourcing, negotiations and carrier management.
Implement and maintain inbound/outbound routing guides and supplier compliance program.
Maintains and updates network carrier contracts pre and post implementation.
Manage and Execute any special projects as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications)
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Transportation Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management; OR equivalent experience.
1-3 years’ transportation, logistics or supply chain experience is preferred. In lieu of 1-3 years’ experience, relevant intern or co-op experience will be considered.
Experience in logistics and transportation analysis, transportation routing software package usage and database creation is preferred.
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, and related business software packages.
Experience working in SAP would be a plus. Knowledge of I2, Red Prairie, Manugistics, CAPS and Connect Ship software would be helpful.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)
Proficiency in spreadsheet and database software.
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, and related business software packages.
Knowledge of SAP, I2, Red Prairie, Manugistics, CAPS and Connect Ship software.
Self-motivated and team orientated.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Excellent analytical skills and project management skills.
Excellent problem solving skills.

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions)
Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.
A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.
Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
