Team Description

Part of the North America Cloud Engineering group, the Advanced Data Services team is a group of highly skilled Cloud Architects and Engineers who work with customers to develop modern data architectures and develop big data and data science solutions. This team’s goal is to help accelerate our customer’s journey to the cloud by moving and improving their existing Hadoop installations, modernizing their data lakes with emerging and proven industry trends, and enabling them to advance data insights through data science and advanced analytics. The team consists of experts who can identify, evangelize, architect, pilot, and implement solutions to accelerate business benefits for our customers.

Job Description

We are seeking technical architects with a strong track record of developing, migrating, and managing, big data warehouses and data lakes in the cloud, to join our Cloud Engineering team.

This role requires cloud engineers to be deeply technical and hands-on, and work closely with our sales teams and customers to help them adopt Oracle Cloud Solutions. Candidates must have a solid understanding of big data, data lakes, analytics solutions, as well as, proven experience developing and deploying such solutions using Hadoop based stack or modern cloud native services.

Cloud Engineers engage with customers to discover business problems and goals, and develop solutions using Oracle Cloud services. Work collaboratively with the customer to document the current state architecture, design the future state, and develop a path for cloud digital transformation. Cloud Engineers will further assist with creating cloud migration plans and executing of migration run books

Responsibilities

Be a trusted advisor to the customers. Understand customers’ drivers and develop a technical architecture to support the business case, highlighting the competitive differentiators at Oracle Cloud, in alignment with the go-to-market product and solution strategy

Exercise creativity, independent judgment, and business acumen in selecting methods and techniques to design elegant business solutions utilizing Oracle products and technology to meet customer needs

As a specialist, provide technical proof points or drive proof of value to the customer with Oracle Cloud Solutions.

Achieve desired results through planning, risk management, stakeholder management, conflict resolution, governance, team management, and ownership of the cloud adoption lifecycle

Be agile and maintain a relentless sense of urgency and a realistic view of time (urgent patience) throughout an extended customer engagement.

Maintain mastery of the Oracle portfolio and relevant expert-level competency across the data ecosystem – Big Data, Data Lakes, Advanced Analytics, and Data Science.

Desired Qualifications / Skills:
Big Data engineer with 7+ years of hands-on experience working on Hadoop eco system. Proficient in Java, Python and Linux Scripting. Must have good knowledge in any of the scheduling tools. The Ideal candidate must have experience in cloud-based Big data solution (in Azure, or AWS, or Google).

Required Skill Set.

Hands-on experience with cloud based Big Data solutions on Azure or AWS or Google or Oracle Cloud

Strong knowledge of Hadoop, HDFS, Java, Map Reduce

Hands on experience in Sqoop, HiveQL, Impala & SparkQL

Deep knowledge on working with Spark Datasets, RDD and performance tuning

Strong SQL knowledge and ability to understand a large complex SQL statement

Linux Shell Scripting, Automation with Python

Preferred Skill Set.

Experience in DataBricks & AI/ML

NoSQL like HBase, MongoDB, Cassandra

Integration Tools Like Oracle Data Integrator, Informatica, Talend, Pentaho

Scheduling tools like AirFlow, RunDeck

Big data migration from on-prem to cloud (using Compute / Storage separate)

Certification on Cloud / Associate Architect in Azure, GCP, or AWS

A bachelor’s degree is required, and masters desired with relevant experience

Partners with customers, sales, engineering and product teams to design, demonstrate and deploy Oracle Cloud architectures that address customer business problems. Creates and distributes technical assets (white papers, solution code, blog posts, and video demonstrations). Serves as a leading contributor for customers and sales on technical cloud solutions and customer success. Identifies gaps and enhancements to influence engineering roadmaps for customer driven features. Leading contributor, may provide direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. May interact with C level. Maintains expertise by staying current on emerging technologies.

Minimum qualifications include: 8 years experience with computer applications and tools required. Ability to travel 50% international and domestic.

Preferred but not required qualifications include: Bachelor of Science-level university degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering from accredited university; and/or relevant 8 years technical experience. Advanced degree in relevant field of studies highly desirable. Expertise in and an in depth and thorough knowledge of competitive and industry knowledge in the field of computer applications and tools; System and application design; Implementation of advanced product features; Project management; Solving technical problems with customers in technical environments; Written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; Needs analysis, positioning, and business justification. 8 years experience and expertise in the clear communication of technical information to others through presentations, demonstrations, written communication and consultative solutioning experience.
