The Global Delivery Center – Hyderabad is part of the UGBU Global Delivery Consulting group that partners with the regional consulting centers in delivering the high-performance Utilities solutions that increase our customers’ competitiveness. The delivery incorporates institutionalized methodologies in an offshore environment whereby world-class talent is developed through mature standards and processes. Role Description

The position offers experienced Project Managers the opportunity to lead the analysis, planning, and execution of all primary administrative functions for both Development and Managed Services projects. Candidates with prior experience in handling offshore delivery teams in the design, development, and testing phases is a huge advantage. Mandatory to the role is managing the project parameters of budget, scope, and schedule, plus people management to cultivate a motivating and productive working environment.

Responsibilities

Accountable for the management of large and/or multiple small offshore delivery projects, with responsibility of ensuring that UGBU Global Delivery Center meet all requirements in the delivery of a quality application to the Customer within agreed time and cost plans

Project Planning

Work with the Regional Project Manager to create a budget and project plan for the Technical Design, Development, Testing, and Support effort. Builds realistic time estimates, work plans and schedules that reflect budget, project milestones and staffing mix.

Structures projects/activities to enable reasonable workload and work/life balance

Plan and implement all actions required to deploy the application, both technically and functionally

Project Management

Oversee and manage day-to-day activities of an offshore project team or multiple offshore project teams

Oversee and manage other non-Oracle offshore staff assigned to project.

Coordinate with the Portfolio Manager to ensure that project team members are shared across projects when appropriate

Ensure that changes in scope or schedule are justified, covered financially and agreed to by appropriate decision makers

Monitor key project metrics such as billable utilization, defect statistics, actuals vs estimates variances.

Support Portfolio Manager in project escalations

Quality Management

Familiarize the team with the customer needs, specifications, design targets, the development process, design standards, techniques and tools to support task performance

Assure that the team addresses all relevant issues within the specifications and various standards

Ensure that processes are in place to deliver high quality service

Risk and Issue Management

Anticipate, report, and address potential issues to minimize project impact

Track and report on project risks with corresponding contingencies and priorities

Project Communications

Communicate team status, task accomplishment, and direction to regional project managers, portfolio managers, and practice managers

Coordinates meetings with the regional project manager, non-Oracle offshore leaders and/or and portfolio managers to discuss project impediments, needed resources or issues/delays in completing the task

Provide status reporting of team activities against the program plan or schedule

Keep the Regional Project Manager and product committee informed of task accomplishment, issues and status

Serve as a focal point to communicate and resolve interface and integration issues with other teams

Escalate issues which cannot be resolved by the team

Provide guidance to the team based on management direction

Staff Management

Coach and mentor team members

Manage staff performance to obtain desired performance level

Provide performance feedback during appraisal period

Share responsibility in promoting learning and transfer of knowledge within the UGBU organization.

Effectively applies Oracle’s methodologies, policies, and procedures while adhering to contractual obligations, thereby minimizing Oracle’s risk and exposure.

Requirements

University degree in IT, Computer Science or any of its equivalents

Has subject matter knowledge of relevant implementation responsibility

At least 8-12 years consulting or industry experience

At least 5 years’ experience in consulting services, as Project Manager, preferably in a multi-national organization

Proven customer facing experience within professional service organizations

Proven project management experience in IT project delivery

Experience in remote development methodology

Experience in mentoring other managers and senior staff

Possess strong planning capabilities, communications skills, presentation skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills.

Ability to effectively influence internal team members and customer stakeholders through consensus building and ability to get results through others, is a plus

Ability to communicate effectively and build rapport with team members and clients

Ability to work in a driven team environment

As a member of the Consulting organization, you are responsible for ensuring that a quality, integrated software solution is delivered in a timely manner, at budget, and to our client’s satisfaction. This involves working closely with the client to understand and manage their expectations, as well as working closely with Oracle and third-party vendors to ensure delivery.

Creates and manages an overall project plan (including budget, structure, schedule, and staffing needs) for one or more Oracle engagements. Monitors and reports progress/changes against the plan. Drives implementation by providing motivation and direction.

Job duties are varied and complex, needing independent judgment. May have project lead role. A BS or BA in related fields. 5-7 year overall experience in functional or technical role. Two years experience in multi-dimensional issue resolution.
