Job Overview Systems Administrator – Data Center Operations

Bechtel is currently seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to join the Global Data Center team. The Global Data Center team manages infrastructure products and technologies deployed at globally dispersed Datacenters.

The position is at the Bechtel Gurugram Office in the Information Systems & Technology division. The selected candidate will work with our customer base as well as internal departments to implement and manage backups, perform data restores, resolve backup and restore issues including escalation to the appropriate group/vendor, provide hardware, software, network installation and problem resolution support for the data center and infrastructure equipment.

Responsibilities Will Include
  • Server installation, Administration, and performance optimization with RHEL 6/7, Oracle Linux and other open source OS, Windows Server 2016 / Windows Server 2019/.
  • Advanced troubleshooting of RHEL 6/7, Oracle Linux 7 and other open source OS
  • Experience with private cloud infrastructure as well as knowledge of public cloud technologies.
  • Server, network and storage performance tuning and optimization
  • Organize regular audits of backup configurations to ensure quality of service
  • Take a proactive look and approach to improve and add efficiency into current backup processes
  • Work with other Backup System Administrators to create/update necessary backup documentation and help to keep up to date
  • Utilize procedures and standards to ensure operational consistency on a global basis and update documentation as required


Additional Duties As Part Of Global Datacenter Operations Team
  • Administer operating systems including performance monitoring, operations planning, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance
  • Participate in planning and implementation of OS changes including version upgrades, service pack installation, and hot fixes.
  • Provide training, troubleshooting and technical advice and direction to local and remote personnel including the Network Operations Center.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide off-hours support and maintenance globally


Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years’ experience as a Systems Administrator in Datacenter Operations in virtualized environment working on Hypervisors (VMWare), Operating Systems (Linux/Windows)
  • 4+years of systems administration experience (Linux and other open source platforms)
  • Bachelor’s Degree


Additional Requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of on Linux Oracle/ Redhat, SUSE Linux systems, Microsoft Windows Server (2016,2019).
  • Knowledge and experience in managing and administration for cloud-based deployments
  • Excellent Customer Service and Communication skill
  • Hands on experience with TCP/IP Networking, SAN, and Data center


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or a related field
  • Open Source operating systems experience
  • RedHat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
  • Oracle Certified Associate / Professional
  • Current MCSE or the ability to obtain Windows Server certification within 90 days
  • CommVault Professional certification – preferred not mandatory
  • Azure certifications – AZ 103 Administrator/ AZ 300 or 301 Solutions Architect
