Senior Member of Technical Staff at Oracle for Research

This role is available in the OCI / Oracle for Research development organization. We are addressing challenges of the next generation of research in the cloud. Our user’s focus is pushing scientific boundaries across generics, energy, climate, AI research and more, and our obsession is to help them make that a reality - powered by the near infinite capacity cloud computing. We are building cloud services to address the biggest gaps in cloud offerings, hyperscale intelligent computing as well as collaborative tooling across the scientific community.

MAKING AN IMPACT

As a member of OCI / Oracle for Research development organization, you will work in a multidisciplinary team to develop and deliver leading edge IaaS and PaaS solutions for the global marketplace. You’ll be working on our next generation cloud-native platform currently under development.

Our Development approach is based on a DevOps-centric mindset, combining software development with operations expertise to shorten the development life cycle while delivering features, fixes, and updates frequently, in close alignment with business objectives.

We employ Agile methodologies, lean development practices, design thinking and we encourage and foster an open, collaborative workplace.

SETTING STANDARDS

As a Cloud Software Development Engineer, you will be responsible for developing one or more functional or non-functional domains comprising our next generation cloud native solutions.

Your daily responsibilities will entail development, adoption and adherence to methods and practices, adoption and adherence to standard coding patterns, timely delivery and code quality. You are responsible for design, develop, deliver, operate and support functions.

KEY SKILLS

Technical skills:

  • Software Coding using Java-based technologies
  • Web Services and APIs using the latest technologies
  • Continuous integration for real-time testing and diagnostics
  • Responding to reported incidents and anomalies

QUALIFICATIONS

Primary Skills

  • 5-10 years of experience
  • Extensive coding experience in one or more high level programming languages such as Java, C#, C++, Python or Go
  • Hands-on experience with REST, HTTP, Microservices, Eventing frameworks, Scalable API frameworks
  • An understanding of: OAuth2.0, JWT
  • Experience with Git and Docker
  • Strong exposure to Cloud concepts (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS) with Oracle Cloud, AWS, or Azure, any certification(s) is a plus
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong design skills
  • Experience in working with Big Data tools and ETL frameworks
  • Experience on JUnit, and JMockit tools
  • Excellent writing and oral communications skills (in English)
  • Natural collaborator who enjoys working in cross organizational teams residing in multiple time zones.

Secondary Skills

  • Practiced Agile Development and knowledge of Tools such as Confluence/JIRA
  • High Performance Computing experience
  • Experience with Oracle Database and Oracle APEX
  • Good team player


Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
