Being empowered with the flexibility, reliability and scalability of Virtual Networking, Cloud Applications and Cloud Platform enables Oracle’s Enterprise customers to run their mission critical workload seamlessly on OCI. Within OCI, Virtual Networking team is responsible for delivering innovative networks with high performance characteristics that exceed those of our competitors.

Virtual Networking team delivers Network-as-a-Service that handle planning, provisioning, life cycle management and security of our customers’ network infrastructure. We are shaping the management of network infrastructure by providing the flexibility and simplicity of a virtual network but with the manageability and control of a software defined network (SDN).

Description of the Role: What would the candidate work on if s/he joined your team?

OCI is starting to build a foundational service for the management and configuration of external sites/resources, to redefine the hybrid cloud experience with connectivity and interoperability.

We are looking for an energetic, engaged, and technically strong Senior Manager of Software Development to lead the engineering team for development of major components of cloud services of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and interact with many other people. As one of the leaders, you will lead the engineering team, work with architects to identify and deliver new features, operate the service at massive scale, and drive the entire product lifecycle ranging from conceptualization -> product -> design -> development -> launch -> operational maturity, and the ultimate success and adoption of the product. You should be a distributed systems or networking generalist, able to architect broad systems interactions, while being very hands-on, able to dive deep into any part of the stack and lower level system interactions. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

• Delivering large scale project on-time with high quality.
Qualifications
• Extensive experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of C, C++ or Java, and experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, etc.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals.
• Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures.
• Demonstrable success mentoring and growing junior engineers to senior levels.
• Excellent verbal and written skills.
• Experience building multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructure is a strong plus.

Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a manager of the software engineering division, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the architecture.

Manages and controls activities in multi-functional areas of sections. Ensures appropriate operational planning is effectively executed to meet Corporate specifications. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
